I've been looking for a 55-02 for a while...sweet. I think you'll dig it lots. I played a frineds at a blues jam a few months back and have had my eyes out for one ever since...

Well, I bought Chrisp2u's 55-02, it should be here Wednesday next week: just in time for me to get to know it a little, and go to work Fri/sat with it...

Here's a quick shot I just took of my Lak family. The Amber 55-94 showed up yesterday, courtesy of TB'er vroc38. Just gettin to know her, and so far it's all good.

The other is my DJ5, which is a fantastic bass as well. In my avatar is the 55-02 which is currently on its way to Chef. If I hadn't been GAS'ing for a maple fretboard 55-94 for so long, I would've held on to that one. Great sounding/playing bass. Hope it lives up to your expectations Chef!

i'M waiting for the Same DJ.. should be here in few days... i'll place my command with Jeannie's for a Tort too... completely amazing,

i generaly hate to have the same color combo on a bass as other people.. but this Dj is so amazing.. black + tort is so sexy

Mine's a Deluxe 55-94, swamp ash body w/ quilted maple top (natural finish), birdseye maple fingerboard, Bart pickups & preamp, and I've stuck with the Lakland strings. This is by far the finest instrument I've ever played. I play professionally and it meets and exceeds every expectation that Lakland's reputation preceeds with. I've played Sadowsky NYC's, Foderas, MTDs, nothing comes close to Lakland--totally in a class by themselves.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO HOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!

Mine came last night! Bass NorthWest shipped it to me in a fantastic Protec flight case. A big '40' birthday present from my wonderful wife - I have fallen in love with her all over again :D

55-02 Deluxe QMT Natural/rosewood. Last one in their store too - I was GASsing for either a Cherry Burst/maple or a Natural/rosewood, but my wife thought the Natural looked a lot more 'sophisticated' in her words. The Cherry burst was just bass porn and trashy! LOL

Feels and sounds fantastic - there's only one small problem...

My birthday is in late July, so after I was allowed to tune it and play it to make sure it was OK, she TOOK IT OFF ME AND HID IT until my real birthday.

So now I am in two minds - do I hug her or do I tie her up and hurt her till she tells me where it is?

Pretty obviously the rule applies to me as well - it will only be real when I can post pictures of it :crying: :crying: :crying:

It's your house, too, right?

So what happens if you happen to do a little snooping around (oops, I mean reorganization ;) ) around the house?

A bass is a pretty big thing to hide. The question really is, should you give her the pleasure of hiding it from you and giving it to you on your birthday, or . . . is it time to play "treasure hunter?"

Tough decision. I'd be inclined to try to wait, since she hooked you up so well by buying it for you, and wants to give it to you specially on your birthday, but then again, I've already got my Lakland . . .

My wife hid my Bergantino IP 310 from me for a whole week in our house, but then again, I didn't know she had bought it, either.

Here are some pics I took of my Joe Osborn 4 string and Darryl Jones 5 string. I was trying out different looks on the JO4 and took pics of each along the way:

If your's can hide a Berg without your keen spider-bass-sense finding it, then I am in trouble :D

I also worry about the other security she may have laid around it - she's seen the opening to Indiana Jones about 50 times.

Wow, the version with the tortise shell pickguard and the pickup cover is absolutely gorgeous - and I don't even like pickup covers. Unfortunately for me I found out AFTER buying mine that my favorite look is a sunburst (standard or deluxe) with maple. I'd love to see some more photos of THAT combination. ;)

Mine's just a basic Skyline 55-02, natural/rosewood, but still a beauitiful combination.
