99% of the time, I use a cloth to wipe sweat and grime from just the strings only and the thing micro fiber does not does as well as something with more fluff.
Just read a review on Amazon and I think the guy was referring to the Fender fluffy cloths.
The review stated that fine particles of fluffy micro fiber would get between the string windings and cut down on sustain / vibration.
This is crazy talk, right?

I just use red shop towels.
If you have glasses and use the bulk fuzzy microfiber towels, you'll see that they do indeed leave lint and fibers all over the place; they're hard to see because, well, they're micro. Buy decent ones that are woven.

3M Scotch Brite Microfiber cloth. Has worked for many years, just toss them in the wash every once in a while. We keep buying more and more micro fiber towels so it works to do a small load of them by themselves in the wash, and they sure are handy around the house.
