I paid $800 and its a 2003 Korean with Aero pickups. Great sounding bass
I've seen them go for that low and in roughly the same market as this (St. Pete).Hmmmm.. That is low for a DJ..... That makes me think he KNEW about the truss rod issue....jus sayin!
What is really weird is that the seller was only selling it for $750???Hmmmm.. That is low for a DJ..... That makes me think he KNEW about the truss rod issue....jus sayin!
Everyone would be best served If we let this thread end, there's no point in continuing it. It's eroded, as threads often do. I appreciate everyone's participation, the support of some, and the objective disagreement of others.
I was able to leave feedback on his account last night. This is the page of the classified ad. I can't open it.

So in other words, this may be a functional truss rod with visible wear and corrosion on the tip? You don't know if it will go into back bow. I thought this whole thread was all about a broken (as in will not work) truss rod and now you say you don't know if it will work.Once I had the neck off, My goal was not to adjust it, I only removed the nut, presumably to lubricate the threads with triflow, which Carl advised.

I just heard from the seller. We have a tentative agreement that he will refund me the cost of replacing rhe truss rod in exchange for my dropping the claims.
It was gone and simeone earlier in the thread said that he reopened it.Opened right up for me..... Maybe it's because he blocked you
The seller now had refunded me the cost of the repair, $250.I'm honestly surprised it wasn't ended earlier
You could start to change things by changing the name of the thread to, "Tber worked with me, proving that selling and trading on TB is better than other outlets!"The seller now had refunded me the cost of the repair, $250.
You're right, and I find the entire experience unflattering, and I'm not proud to have been a part in it.
Well I paid $800 on ReWhat is really weird is that the seller was only selling it for $750???

um, I don't recall saying that I didn't know it it would work or not. My last comment on that I believe was that the local tech says it is indeed broken. So in other words, this may be a functional truss rod with visible wear and corrosion on the tip? You don't know if it will go into back bow. I thought this whole thread was all about a broken (as in will not work) truss rod and now you say you don't know if it will work.
If I were the seller I'd agree to cover the costs to have the truss brought back to useable condition where the bass can be adequately set up to factory standards. That might involve adding a couple of brass washers for $5 in parts and $50 in labor to chase the threads another quarter inch, or it might involve replacing the entire rod, or neck for a hundreds of bucks. In any case it would be totally at my discretion as to how it was fixed or who fixed it as long as it functually delivered an action within factory specs.![]()
Good food for thought, sxaxsx. ThanksYou could start to change things by changing the name of the thread to, "Tber worked with me, proving that selling and trading on TB is better than other outlets!"
What makes maters worse is that Paypal agrees with the seller (agrees by not issuing a refund) so the OP contacts their credit card company to fight the judgement against them. That is considered fraud in from where I am sitting.
At last, an irrelevant-to-the-thread distraction!! Thanks RBJ11, you have no idea!!No Soap Radio -
Happy Thumpin' New Year Brother and Sister TB-ers!
PayPal might help reverse the charge if dude won't issue a refund voluntarily.
40 you sound objective and intelligent. Both traits that increase each other's stand-alone value. Thank youFWIW, the way the law works has nothing to do with where we sit, how we feel, or or what we think about it. The law is what the law says. As any competent attorney will tell you. And "fraud" has a very precise and formal legal definition. So be a little careful how you toss the word 'fraud' around. It doesn't mean quite what most people think it means in the legal world.
I deal with Paypal regularly. And as long as a product is received by the buyer - and the payment released to the seller - Paypal they will sidestep any other issues resulting from the transaction if at all possible. So having Paypal "decide" in favor one way or another in and of itself doesn't mean anything. Their primary interest is in providing what amounts to a payment escrow service. They collect the money and hold it until the product is received by the customer - or a common carrier issues a delivery confirmation. Then they release the payment to the seller. That's pretty much the extent of what they'll accept responsibility for. Even in a case of outright fraud. Like eBay, they will sympathize, then basically tell you it's between you and the seller, and there's nothing further they can do about it - and to please go read their 'rules' and terms of service (which you agreed to as a condition of using their service) if you don't understand why.
This sort of head-in-sand policy is pretty much universal for any payment system other than a traditional credit card transaction, which has very strong state and federal consumer protection laws governing it.
When dealing with any payment method other than a major credit card, it's caveat emptor (and seller) all the way.
Please note too that businesses like eBay and Paypal don't have to do business with you. If you rock the boat a little too hard, become a little too vocal, have your credit card company do a charge back, file a formal complaint with a consumer protection agency, or basically create any hassles they don't care to deal with, they can very easily cancel your account and refuse to do any further business with you - even if you're completely in the right from a legal perspective. It's kinda like when a mother tells her kids: "I don't care who started it - the next person that opens their mouth is grounded!" - which is what I think the forum admin (a few posts up) is politely suggesting.
@OP - Good luck.
Or he just sells gear. What exactly is contributing in your book then? A lot of message boards require people to sign up before they are able to view images. For all you know, they seller does a lot more reading than posting.
