A local TB'er ripped me off!!

Sounds to me like he's ignoring you rather than you ignoring him.

Yes, but as a former mod of the classifieds, I can say with certainty that TB transactions are 100% at the user's own risk. I believe it still says that in the Classifieds FAQ as well. It sucks this happened to you, but I wouldn't expect the site to be able to help you if PayPal can't. Paul and company can't give out a user's private info to you or any member of the general public.

From the FAQ
I already have the sellers private info. I know his name, phone, home address.

He has their personal info already. It is the TB documentation of communication & deleted membership info and approval of the TB mods to reveal the TB identity of the guy he is waiting on.

Yeah I get that. I'm just not not sure they will.

Don't get me wrong, I'm on OP's side 100% if the seller did indeed know about the broken truss rod. If the guy wants his account closed though, that's his right. If he's not going to be posting/selling on here anymore, TB can't force his account to stay open just to leave a negative feedback viewable.

@4string4ever, hopefully you clicked paying for goods and services and not sending money to friends or family?

I made the purchase through Reverb so it doesn't allow me to make that mistake.

He could just open a new account and change his name.

hey that really sucks!! but i don't get one thing, if you know his name/ phone # and his address.. then why would you even need to find him here on TB ? especially being local! im not a lawyer or anything, but if you have proof of the transaction (wish apparently you do!) (paypal) and you know where to find this dooch bag ! then why not just make it a legal matter, take his ass to court !

I could do that, but I'll let Reverb, PayPal and my Credit card company all have a whack at it before going that far. And who knows, maybe I'll just pay to get it fixed. It IS a very sweet bass, being an 03 skyline, and feels great in my hands. Better sounding than any fender Jazz I've ever played. I'd honestly like to keep it. Well, ok in good working order.
