A Message From Flea

whatever

NFL: hey, would you guys be interested in faking a live performance for the superbowl halftime show?

RHCP: ummmmm

NFL: oh, pleeeeease?

RHCP: well, ok

whatever

Exactly.

RHCP is in the late autumn of their career, and they are still a force in the entertainment industry, like 'em or hate 'em.

The only people who are even discussing this are musicians and industry types. The vast majority (i.e. mainstream audience) couldn't care less.

Could they have put a wireless on Flea for show? Sure, but it would have been purely for the sake of us musicians. And let's be honest, this is the RHCP, the eternal adolescents. It's not such a stretch that they left out a detail.

We thought it better to not pretend. It seemed like the realest thing to do in the circumstance.

Oh the irony. Not faking fake playing, by fake playing without fake plugs, to keep it real. :eyebrow:

I like RHCP and the reasons why they had to pre-tape are absolutely valid and out of their control. But imo they just exposed themselves to public ridicule by not plugging anything in their instruments. Having your band's name associated with Milli Vanilli is not something to look for..

It depends.

What wood is the body made of?

More importantly, what colour is it? Badass bridges only work better on solid colours.

IMHO Flea did the right thing. Somebody was going to go over the performance frame by frame and find out he wasn't really playing. So by leaving the bass unplugged, he lets the people who care know he isn't playing.

I am sure the NFL would have to approve him not plugging in. I am sure they thought the 99% would not care one way or the other.
