A most suitable humble servant

Very sorry for the Hi-jack, disenchant!

That aint a scar you wuss. It's still red, that's called a scab. I guarantee that will be gone in a few months. What did you do etch the first few layers of skin with a pin. LOL. Save your money and get a tat. Scarification just looks childish, and makes you about half a step away from emo.

So, it's back to the dating game for me. And where does a 32-year old meet guys? I hate bars. Sooooo, I guess it's all about match.com.

Come out to California... You could be my "side project"... Wait!!! Did I just say that aloud [hitting keyboard] How do I turn this thing off?[expletive] Frackin' inner-dialogue switch [hits keyboard again....long pause...... sigh.... hits "submit reply"] :ninja:

Your right. Im tired of this crap with kids carving their favourite black metal bands name in their flesh, then think they are "tr00" and evil. The whole scene is certainly not a joke, but it might soon be if this crap goes on.

Yup it's a daily occurrence huh?

I have noticed recently, a lot of people have started calling bands like Arch Enemy and Children Of Bodom, black metal. It disgusts me that they continue to do this, when they have no idea what they are talking about.

Anyone who knows about the Vark Vikernes/Oystein Aarseth, may have also noticed that a lot of people have taken this story and changed it to whatever they want basically. A person in my school noticed a Mayhem patch on my bag, to which he said.
" Mayhem, that was that band that all ended up dead because of that Nazi guy wasn't it." To which I replied to him with a swift kick in the sack. It seems to be happening to people who listen to metal/hard rock, lately they seem to have all learned the slightest amount of black metal and even though they have no idea what they are talking about, think they know the whole story and meaning behind it.

Ric1312 - I have a few points to make here:

Firstly you're a ******* ****
Secondly, that was done with a knife, not a pin, and bled like hell when I done it, that picture was taken about a month or two after it happenned, when you burst skin open it scabs from the blood, you know that surely? I done it just before xmas '05 and the scar is still very hard to miss, I always get people asking 'whats that mark on your arm'.
Thirdly, hope to be getting the proper 'MayheM' logo tattooed somewhere as soon as I can.

[rant] I'm not just a fan of black metal because its the most extreme form of metal, or because of anyone in the genre. I like it because when I listen to a black metal album, it makes me think, it makes my mind wander, think of things I havent though of before, it makes me feel stronger about everything I have an opinion on. E.G. Listening to Graveworm - Abhorrence just now. Listening to black metal like that just gives me a feeling, that I can't get anywhere else, like it brings me alive. Listening to that song right now just makes me feel like nothing else matters, why should I care. It's like the music takes me to a different place. I am very passionate 'so to speak' about this genre of music, because it is capable of things like this. I would do anything to keep the genre alive and kicking. It is quite literally the only thing I truly care for. All this 'tr00 black metal ftw' crap is very very bugging to me, as for those who do truly care for the music, are in a different league all together. Look at Mayhem for example, they are a band who really care about the genre and wish to keep it alive and keep it what it should be, because of this, real black metal fans will always respect them, for what they have done over the years for the genre itself.

Sit back in a comfy chair, no distractions and listen to 'Meladonium Capta Est - Mayhem' album, and Listen to it from start to finish. Only then will you understand what I mean.[/rant]

Dood, chill out. It's OK.

Arch Enemy and COB are soooo black metal, more black metal than you'll ever be. I bet none of those guys ever scractched their arms and stuff. Thats a bit emo is you ask me.

I don't have a boyfriend. This nice bassist guy ended it because he didn't want a relationship to interfere with his career or hopes and dreams. I'd normally chalk that up to a "it's not you, it's me but it's really you" but he's a commitaphobe. Not a cheater, just a serial dater. Dates girls, when it comes time for commitment...disappears faster than Britney's hair. I guess I was next in line!

So, it's back to the dating game for me. And where does a 32-year old meet guys? I hate bars. Sooooo, I guess it's all about match.com.

I may not date any more musicians. The one before this one was a guitar player, and there wasn't room for him, me and his ego in the relationship!

I'd join the fawning herds of guys here asking you to reconsider, but you already posted a thread about my beer belly, no shirt pictures and I can't handle any more rejection.:D So In keeping with the spirit of this thread I'm just going to carve your name in my arm. Is their one "N" or two in Sunni?;)

In all sincerity, your hot, young, play the bass, what more could a guy want? Quit trying so hard. Do the things you LIKE to do, and you'll probably run in to someone, who has a lot more in common with you, then some impostor on the net.

Your most suitable humble servant, Steve

PS: I have this money order from Nigeria, could you please deposit? I will pay you a most humble brokerage fee for forging this alliance:D

Mayhem... you're entertaining, if you're not anything. Thinking occurs on all levels with music, if you're listening to quality music... When you described what black metal does for you, I thought, that's the same thing dub reggae/funk/bluegrass/ska/dancehall/jazz/groove rock does for me. When I was your age I was narrow minded and took opposing viewpoints (never racist) as well... Except it was punk that I listened too. Then after I lived life a little and witnessed some of the darker sides of it, I started thinking that I get enough negativity in everyday living, so I started seeking more positive influences in life. Less whining and complaining about what's wrong... what sucks... who sucks.... blah blah.

As a human being you're pleasure seeking creature... If you get pleasure out of scraping yourself with a knife, you're still confined to this definition. I would just make a suggestion from one person to another... Be careful with who/what you choose to associate yourself with, because eventually, you will find yourself imprisoned to act according to what you embrace... Mayhem, from my understanding of it, didn't end well. At some point you're going to find someone or perhaps yourself challenging yourself to be tr00 while you have a shotgun in your hand. Then what? This whole personna that you've built up has suddenly reached a point where you "have to" act in order to maintain it. This might happen next month or ten years from now when you're in a successful band inspired by Mayhem (BTW being angry and successful is pretty hard to "sell"). Or it might happen when you meet yourself ten years later and you see some screwed up kid that idolizes YOU... perhaps it's your own kid... Are you going to recommend that this kid hate people because they look different or are from a different culture? Are you going to recommend that this kid blow his brains out to be a tr00 black metal fan?

Despite all the attention you seek you're getting a lot of attention that you're not seeking, and I guarantee, that you're hardcore-adolescent-f-it-all mind is not going to like it because five years later you're going to whining on TB about how you can't get work because the guy hiring you is someone you said "heil hitler" too... Or how the cops keep "picking on you" because you're just expressing yourself by kicking someone who disagrees with you in the sack... It's your right to have the opinions that you have (I'm not here to change that), but it's also other people's right to reject you and everything you stand for, and beleive me, you're not going to like that. Isolation is true freedom... True nonconformity is frightening and lonely, and like I said you're a pleasure seeking creature, and you'll find that true freedom is not pleasurable. Enjoy yourself my friend.;)

Yeah, I felt the same way at your age...

About Debbie Gibson... :ninja:

Electric Youth... Wow! What an album! ;)

Dude, read Maki's post, above. He "gets" it. And, so does anybody over the age of twenty who can look back on their youthful obsessions with a more experienced understanding.

What you don't "get" right now is that, as much as you think so, no band - or anything else, for that matter - is worthy of such devotion and worship and you give to Mayhem and "black metal." You may think that they're pure and represent everying you believe about music. But, the fact is, were you to meet them, you'd likely be quite disappointed that the reality didn't live up to your expectations.

In the big picture, music is pretty meaningless. It doesn't put a roof over your head, make your stomach full, or keep you warm in the winter. These are the things that are most important. These, and family.

You, just like everyone else, will get over your youthful exhuberance and fascination with a particular music genre. Let's just hope this happens before you decide to prove just how tr00 you are, and it's too late.

Sit back, relax, and put on some Debbie Gibson. There is no better salve for teenage angst than a hot chick singing pop songs in a short skirt... :p

Seriously, dude, good luck.

Maki you made an outstanding post but what really shines is this:

Mayhem... you're entertaining, if you're not anything.

That is the GREATEST turn of that phrase I've ever read. I'm horrifically jealous.

Nicely said.
