A nice single cab solution for my Thunderfunk

Well, the good news with the TF is that it sounds good through almost anything. I never use more than one cab with my TF, and have a number of 4ohm cabs (Ht210S, Schroeder1212L and 21012L and Epi410UL) all of which sound different but GREAT with that head.

I've only played an HT115 once in a music store setting... very nice, smooth, heavy(!), but 8ohms and not very efficient... IMO not the best match for the TF as a single cab.

I had an opportunity to run the Tfunk thru two EA VL110's today, that was a pretty impressive little rig there.

Sorta. Most 310s would not be three ways as all the drivers are running the same full range signal. A three way has lows going to a low driver, mids to a mid driver, and highs to a high driver.

PS: Not a three way, but there are very few gigs that my little EA nl-210 can't handle with my thunderfunk. It is 8 ohms which lets tack on another cab to move more air if needed. Most the time (probably 85% or so) only one is needed however.

Nope, a tree way cab is a cab whose sound branches out in many directions

I'm extremely jealous of that cab -- how much does it weigh? Can anyone compare it to the Bergie HT115? I need a one cab solution to my Thunderfunk too!

Compared to my HT115 (which as Ken points out, is 8 ohm, versus the 4 ohm Skjold cab), the Skjold has more upper midrange definition and a lot of punch/cut in those upper notes (high-mids up through highest notes), while the Berg is more full sounding, with less upper mids, but more lower mids, and a smoother (but nicely present) high end.

+1... it would be hard to know. Don uses so many different designs and tunings that his cabs can sound very different from one another, much less from another manufacturer.

However, he's one of the only producers (I guess Accugroove and Flite are others) I know of that makes a three way 15, and I think the only one that can make a 4ohm version. It seems that he would be the best bet IMO if someone wants a small, 4ohm three way 15 now that Pete is no longer considering his design.

I am sure that Dr. Bass could do so as well, and you might be able to get the Accugroove Tri 115 in a 4 ohm flavor, if you ask nice.

Thanks Tom, that does help. I do wish there were more 4ohm 15" -loaded cabs to choose from out there...
