I never really understood the issues people have with gay men (lets be honest, society tends to have more of an issue with gay men than it does with lesbians).

On the most basic level, if a man is only interested in other men, it improves my odds with the ladies. What's to hate about that?!

Everyone has the right to dislike homosexuals. When they start protesting or take it to more extreme measures, that's when they're jerks. Why do you care how other people live, who are you to decide?

One can read every single religious book, pray to every single god there has ever been. That's ok, but when you show up on my doorstep rubbing your book in my face, that's when you're a jerk. (I'm not talking about psychopats who does terrible things, they're psychopats not jerks)

That's cool, I don't think were that far apart in concept, maybe just communication style. There are more subtle shades in issues, but I digress. What I was mostly pointing out, is that when we decry hate and bigotry, yet call names in the same breath, that's a bit of what is known as an ( ahem ) incongruity.

I can relate from personal experience. I'm ashamed to admit that in my teens and twenties I was a "jerk" about gay people. I made a lot of very bad jokes and ignorant statements about homosexuals back then. I looked upon gay people with derision. What an asshat I was back then.

And then I grew up and came to realize the sheer stupidity of my attitude. These days I see a gay person as a person and don't make the least judgment about their sexual orientation.

I'm a much better person for it.
