A question to the thinkers

They claim that 90 percent of the human brain is never used...therefor we are only 10 percent conscious.

Since each person's version of reality differs slightly, then your reality will not be anybody else's reality even though you are 10 percent conscious.

Since if you die, life still goes on..then you're going to have to be awake to watch the parade, if you get my drift.

They say that the brain can't tell the difference between vivid imagination and reality.

So you could be in a coma for 5 years and have a better life than anybody else...as long as your imagination was working in your favor.

Hallucinations are often more memorable than reality.

Is reality really real?.....of course it is. If I stub my toe the sunnfabich is gonna hurt....that's real. How would my imagination know that stubbing a toe hurts.......?

Who taught my imagination anything?........the info had to come from somewhere......that's right....it came from reality.

On the other hand I know a lot of people who are brain-dead and have been that way most of their lives......

Most of us are creatures of habit.......and I'll bet that we go through most of our days without experiencing the LEVELS of consciousness we are capable of.

Higher levels of consciousness are unknown to many....and many have a great fear of the Unknown....so they'll stick to what they know, no matter how boring it is.

Do you have the documentation available to back up your statement?

It's not good to "just say" something.......

No, I don't actually. But the way you word it ("They claim that 90 percent of the human brain is never used") is certainly wrong. Emotions, speech, learning, problem solving, pain, pleasure, whatever, all trigger different parts of the brain. It's not like everything happens in the frontal lobe for instance, and the rest is just dead weight.

If you can't prove you're right...then how do you know my statement is wrong?

No-one mentioned frontal lobes...that's for an upcoming thread.....

Also when you use a muscle you will never utilize 100% of it's capability no matter how heavy you try to lift.

The world's best powerlifters do not use 100% of their muscle capability.....even though the muscle appears to be firing uniformly over it's area.

If you are running a 500 horsepower engine in a vehicle at 5 mph...every part of the engine will be working....but nowhere near it's capability.

Show me the documentation, my friend....and then we can go page after page refuting each other's facts with more documentation.......:bookworm:

You're asking me for documentation, yet you haven't posted any yourself. Google is a click away. ;)

I didn't have to prove it right.........I said THEY claimed that ( THEY being the they-at-large that is responsible for everything).

So I didn't need to post documentation...but you did because you challenged the statement..

But you can't use text from Wiki as evidence in a court of law.........therefor anything in Wiki could constitute "hearsay".....

I'm still right and you know it.......

Takes a lot of injury, usually death to get reality to go away. An injured brain still has a lot of reality - pain, sight, sound, etc. Granted it might not be a ponderable reality. Even simple organisms have a limited reality. Research shows you can "scare" plants into producing stress chemicals by playing them the sound of caterpillars chewing.
Agreed. I was thinking more in terms of injuries that change consciousness or wipe out parts of it, rather than killing somebody outright.

No, you're wrong. I don't (usually) use the calc part of my brain while getting it on. Using your engine analogy: cylinder deactivation for more efficiency. Comparing the brain to an engine is kind of stupid anyway.
