A rant about the re-occurring theme here..

I never had the pleasure. I am a self-educated hole poker.

That being said, I still think that anyone who went to college and/or knows the definition of "tangential" (great word by the way) would also have caught wind of the word "recurring" (and, while we're picking nits, may have learned how to stick an "upper case" letter at the beginning of a sentence).

I'm just here to help in any way that I can.

both variants of recurring and reoccurring are permitted in the English vernacular actually.

Where do I go to get my opinion qualified? I was under the impression that I was entitled to my opinion. And I thought freedom of speech gave me the right to voice that opinion.

if you read my original post thru the end, you'd see that it's a matter of common sense.. do you know it? have you had it for a few days, enough to really spend somet time with it? or did you just play with it for 10 min at GC?

There are cases where the person asking the question may want whatever input they can get. Depends on how common the item is.

For example (sorry, I can only think of a guitar, not a bass example):
If the question was asked about how good a 6BM8 was as a power valve in a guitar amp, I would answer that the one time I heard one it sounded incredible.

I have never owned one. That may be the only answer that somebody asking the question will get. In those situations I would prefer to not remain silent.

Happy to help!

nice find! Well, since this doesn't seem to occur on a scheduled basis, but rather sporadically ... I guess it reoccurs!

Also, funny, I've got not one but two PM's now thanking me for posting what those people were thinking and taking all the flack for it... I responded that I personally am not here to make friends and don't give a rats arse what anonymous people on here thing.. I'm stating my mind, take it or leave it.

I can often tell in a few seconds whether I like a bass or not. That's all it takes to get the feel of the neck. If I like that, maybe I'll plug it in.

I don't know about most people, but I only keep things I like. Unless most collect equipment they don't like, most everything would have only good reviews, making reviews meaningless.
