Acoustic (control) BPDI bass preamp?

Well, after a lot of Google reading and YouTube viewing I bought this unit. Found these on Amazon, Ebay, and Reverb. Wanting for it to arrive. Will have more to say once I play around with it. Hope for good things. We'll see.

I'll be really interested to hear what you think. Last I looked that thing was like $65 and that's just stupid cheap for what it's supposed to be haha.

I see from an earlier thread that you in Appletom Wi. I was born and raised in Milwaukee. I live in Illinois now. So, saying hi from one Cheese head to another.

Eager to hear what this thing can do. 4 band EQ controls and the array of other tone shaping controls in this unit sold me on this specific unit. It was the preamp modeling in the super cheap Zoom MS-60b, and the quality of the tones in this multi-effects that sold me on the idea of adding a preamp pedal. As I see it, almost any standalone will being bring upgraded tone shaping. The preamp will be an always on pedalboard device. Also considering getting rid of my rack gear, and doing everything from pedals.

Old thread I know but I just got a blemished one from Guitar center for like $60. I played with it for about 5 minutes and it went back in the box. Returning to my local store tonight. The noise that thing makes is obnoxious. Too bad because otherwise it sounds pretty decent and would be a great solution for me for home practice.

hey! Fellow fox valley bassist! I just saw a new bpdi on musicians friend for $57. That price is so tempting! How did it sound other than the hissing? Was it something a noise gate could take care of if the pedal sounds good enough?

If you put it after the bpdi , probably. It had a good sound. Not anything crazy better than say the Beringer bddi. The reason I had bought the acoustic was for the aux and headphones out for home practice. Can't put a noise gate behind there unfortunately. The one I returned might be at guitar center in Appleton still for you to try haha.

At $58, I just had grab one of these. I hear the hiss, but it also randomly goes away for periods of time. It almost seems like the unit needs to warm up. But… then it comes back after a bit… sometimes. The headphone out is almost unusable. It distorts very easily.

Overall though, it’s worth what I paid for it since I’ll mostly use it for “fun jams” with friends and neighbors.
