Just scored a New Clarus SL-R ( r for reverb) ( a very good reverb ) from one of the lads here on TB . I'm in love again , it's just so darn good. Light , Loud and very versatile . Sure they are famous in the DB world but man is this amp wonderful with a EB . Check them out !

I ran an original Clarus head through a pair of EA VL110s for several years. Astoundingly good. Not really loud enough for some situations as the EAs are notoriously inefficient, but such a good sound. The newer AI amps are substantially more powerful now, so volume is less of an issue. If you want to hear what your bass truly sounds like, AI will show you. It’s also honest - if your technique needs work, you’ll hear it.

When I shopped for a new rig, it was that sound I was chasing. Bergantino get me there.

+1. I've been using an AI Focus 1 Series II for the past ~15 years, and it's a killer amp head for electric bass. I've also used it occasionally for guitar (clean traditional jazz sounds) and it ain't too shabby for that role either.

Thanks Fellas ! Man do I love this thing ! It takes pedals really well too . It's kinda what I was thinking but turned out to be much better then I had hoped for . I wanted pretty much a tiny power amp to work with the VT pedal . It's that and much more. The amp really sounds fantastic straight in .
