Thanks to a violin makers group, I was given a link to a wonderful paper titled Invalid Link Removed written by Andrew William Brown. This is a must read for anyone interested in scientific studies about the double bass.

It's a large PDF file (almost 5mb), but well worth the time it takes to download.
