action = tone?

Digging in on a string will give you a bigger sound but if your action is set too low then you cant dig in as much. Yeah it effects tone...

True... some players prefer high action and heavier attack. The tone is definitely different than low action and light attack.

Also as mentioned, some people like string buzz ("mwah") and fretboard clank. There was a period when I was emulating Entwistle's piano tone... I didn't use his "typewriter" method, but even so my technique was to hit the strings downward so they'd slap the fretboard.

The solution to the equations was a Fourier series which is the sum of an infinite series of sine functions (if I remember correctly). The coefficients of the terms are what determines the character of the solution.
