I’ve even got a preamp bypass on my Stingray. It sounds amazing passive.
Yes I get that, it was just to see what people generally prefer.
I've only played passive Fender Jazz Basses (MIA) since 1966 and that's what I use. I do have a 5-string bass that plays either active or passive and I play it in passive mode too. It’s pretty simple really. Active or Passive! I’m not too sure what I mean, I guess a bass with anything active (Stingray/Subray) or a bass with everything passive (P-bass).
I am aware the Stingray has passive pups but it has active EQ so I’m counting it as active.
(Btw this is my first poll)
That tortoise is definitely passive, not active.
Wonder if it sounds like my passive EBMM SUB Ray. I agree, I love that MM sound passive, makes me wonder why they don't offer a passive/active switch on the Ray.I’ve even got a preamp bypass on my Stingray. It sounds amazing passive.
