just flipped through the new rolling stone and in the U2 article it has an overhead shot of them in studio and there it is! db750 and i think is 2 db410s i love it!
He was given the head and cabs to try and was impressed but never actually used them to record with.He will continue to use the Ashdown heads and cabs on the next tour.
Ashdown with Obama, Aguilar at the Grammy's... Sounds like something "I" would do! It would be a rack full of DB750's and a wall of DB810's if I were him.
Nathan East was playing a DB750 w/two AG cabs at the Obama Lincoln Memorial gig. You really can't buy what you see someone using. It can be provided/rented backline not their choice. Why is their choice even significant? It can be a good starting point though if that's your thing. If you hear DI anyway why not buy that.
Understandable... it rocks! There's something about that combo that's awesome! I've got a DB750 and absolutely love it, but, for some gigs, the ABM500RC with the pre-shape engaged and the tube grind at 11 o'clock through the DB810 kills!
How do the two heads compare? The Aguilar seems to have a bit more of a round type sound from what iv'e heard.I love the grind the ABM's put out.
describing sound? not a fan of it really as we all hear what WE hear? I just use what sounds right for me for any given situation. I agree that the ABM grind is great! the DB750 has that enormous headroom and to "ME" a bigger, clearer tone. I just like this combination and use the ABM / DB810 for rock, and mainly, with a Stingray 5 and Jazz bass. I use the DB750 / GS412 or DB810 rigs for everything else I do, live anyway. (also with a variety of other basses) I really like the sound each combination gives as do the bands I use them in. If Adam Clayton is hearing what I'm hearing then I understand why he's looking at the ABM / DB set-up. I think it'd work great for HIS sound. IMO, the Ashdown cabs of old would've been the week link in his on-stage set-up and definately think the Aguilar DB cabs sound superior to the older ABM cabs. Just IMO of course. All the best!
Using Aguillar @ the Late show/Letterman right now... edit: only the cabs are aguillar, the head is Ashdown ABM.
was cool to see the Aguilar cabs... but how in the heck did you spot the Ashdown head(s)??? all I saw or noticed were the two Aguilar cabs stacked without heads on top.
he sounded great. Really, great bass sound. The ABM heads were sideways, by the drumkit. I spotted the back of a ABM head in one of the camera angles. It looks like no endorsement deal anymore, since the heads were out of sight...
Thought the bass tone was Muddsville tonight (Tuesday). Maybe it was somewhat due to all the synth work being performed by others out of the sight lines.
I saw the the Aguilar cabs on stage powered by what seemed to be an Ashdown ABM900 behind the drum's on the first night on Letterman???? there were no speaker leads plugged into the Ashdown head though? Adam's bass sounded great! Who knows what he's using for the tour? my guess is that he's trying out this stuff and will use what works... Can't go wrong here IMO!
