A badass mofo!Who is Adam Nitti?
I am personally sick of average players getting endorsement deals and signature models.
At least Adam Nitti is a real player. I for one applaud Ibanez for actually endorsing an bassist that is actually good, not just a commercial name, who really is nothing special. Or would you guys be happier with a Mark Hoppus, or Adam Clayton model?
A fender looks like a fender and an Ibanez looks like an Ibanez. Just how a squier, looks very very similar to a fender custom shop bass, this Ibanez bass looks very similar to a SDGR. But, that doesn't mean that they don't have have very different components, and perform quite differently.
Granted 7k is a lot, but sadly at some point you have charge a huge price, both from a Marketing view, and to instill value, for something to be seriously considered high end.
And as others have said, Ibanez knows the bass market well, and realizes that they will sell more GSR's, but they are trying to add another dimension to their sales line, and have something that is considered top tier. Not everyone with money wants to play Fodera, Marleaux, Ken Smith, Alembic, MTD, Etc..
Best,
