Adding second cabinet to GK MB200

The MB200 is 4 ohms, with a single speakon output.

I went with the advice, "get an 8 ohm cab, you can add another one later". So I've gotten a second NEO III 115, and discovered, there are very few options for splitting a speakon cable. I went to my local guitar emporium, and they were surprised that I would want a splitter, seemed to think the idea unusual. "Well if you did it wrong, you could melt your cab!"

I don't want to make my own splitter, I think I saw 2 options after an hour of googling. Any advice? I'm contemplating just upgrading my amp.

Use the 1/4" jacks on the cabs to parallel chain them. Speakon to first cab, first cab's 1/4" to 1/4" on second cab. There are usually black plastic plugs in the 1/4" jacks to prevent air leaks, just takes a finger nail to remove them.

I didn't realize these cabs didn't have two speakons. Really disappointed to hear that. My existing cabs have two and I kinda thought that was the new norm. Looks like a simple expenditure of a 2nd speakon would be called for. I guess when I come out with my product line I will be sure to add the 2nd one. (just kidding - partially disabled so my speaker building days do not have the potential they once did)

Audiopile used to make custom cables - bet if you call them they will make one if they don't have it.

OP I am sure you can find a cable, or like the others said do the 1/4" which should work fine. Another option would be to have a 2nd one installed. I really like having two on a cab.

I haven't yet played the GK MB200 but I just got a Traynor SB200H and adding the 2nd cab will, I think, let me utilize it in a practice session - pretty darn loud for a 200 watt amp and I suspect the GK is the same and adding the 2nd cab will impress you. But it certainly will not be as loud as a 500 watt amp.

That should sound very good and get still get fairly loud. That amp punches somewhat higher than its wattage rating would suggest.

That said, it won't do what a GK 500 watter will either.

The MB800 with a pair of 15s would be sublime.

I play mine thru (2) 210 cabinets daisy chained and have done 12 gigs like that now in medium sized clubs- sounds great and plenty loud up to a point. Then again I don't play with guitards any more.
I could easily afford a louder head, but I love the sound of the little MB200.
