Advice on possible Bass trade

It's a really nice 'Bird. I'm partial to Thunderbirds, so take it for what it's worth. I would not trade that 'Bird for that P under any circumstances, especially if the 'Bird sounds good. I'm sure somebody will trade a good P for it. Trading it for a good used MIM P would be trading down in my opinion, so you should be able to do pretty well with that one.

Thank you and it is a mint condition 'Bird as well -I am talking flawless. I would keep it if I had slightly longer arms :(

Try adjusting the way the 'Bird hangs. I have found that it has a sweet spot with the neck much more vertical than a Fender. If you do it that way, you will find the ergonomics more like an upright bass than a Fender can get, and once you get used to it, you may find it more comfortable because your wrists don't have to bend. It's just a suggestion and it won't work for everyone. It's worth trying before bailing. If it works, you win!

Darn I really wanted to trade for a P-Bass!
And you should. Just not that P-bass.

It's true that MIJ Fender necks are great, but the rest of that P-bass is a hot mess. Bide your time and you'll find someone in the TB classifieds who'll take that T-bird in trade for a P-bass. It just may take a while.

Your T-bird is super clean. The right deal will come along for you.

The guy sent me some clearer pics, so what do you think? Would it be a huge job to restore the body back to it's former glory or is it a lost cause??

Dude, you seem to really want this bass regardless of all the good advice given here, that thing is a POS! Spend some time in the classifieds here and see what is available. Emotional trades are never good, take the advice of the people here who know better and trust us when we say there is a better deal out there...just be patient!

hell no your T-bird looks awesome! if you want a P save your pennies at the end of the day you'll end up with both and you'll soon forget about the money.
As for the playing of the epi just adjust playing style a bit and see if that helps but trading that beautiful bass for that hot mess is a bad idea

Lost cause? Probably not.
Worth the effort? Almost definitely not.

I'm not going to lie: Japanese Fender necks from 1986 are very, very good but restoring that bass would be an enormous hassle and would cost more in time, money and aggravation than the trade would be worth, IMO.

I'm kinda confused. The head-stock on the T-bird says "Gibson"? Regardless, I wouldn't do it. That P-bass looks terrible.

It's a custom truss rod cover, the original says Epiphone in Gold and the Gibson logo is in White. I was going for a monochromatic look on the Bass.

I AM NOT GOING TO TRADE FOR THE BASS _YOU ALL HAVE CONVINCED ME THAT IT WOULD BE A HUGE MISTAKE!

Hehe sorry for yelling, it's just that I am not thrilled about the prospect of shipping the Bass, I have no case or gigbag only the original shipping box so I was trying to put together a local face to face deal to avoid that.

LOL, I think we can take a little yelling. You made the right move - or non-move, as the case may be. Now if you really want a decent P-bass you could do well trading in for a recent Mexican. Or a new one. They have been pretty good lately.
