…and even fewer basses. Big $ now.
Waddya mean? All guitars/basses are phallic symbols to a certaint extent.+1 on avoiding pointy horns on the body and headstock. And as much as I love Warwick basses, I find the Corvette body shape to be a bit too suggestive
- I can't play pedals with stupid sexually juvenile names.
That’s just the reason I would, if there was one that I could use in a bass context. Who the hell is looking at my pedalboard besides other musicians(if at all), anyway? I’mI refuse to buy any pedals that have offensive or childish graphics and names that could be visible to an audience.
That’s been pretty damned obvious for a long time….I think that's 1 of those eye of the beholder type situations

Thanks a lotThey are Ear Buds, but filters out decibels on a more even frequency basis, so music sounds natural rather than muffled. Also, the amount of dBs cut can be as much a 25 dBs These can be custom fit by an audiologist (highly recommended for maximum protection) or you can get them over the counter at GC, or oiline at Sweetwater or AirTurn. Give Erasers a call and talk to a customer service rep to get the skinny. Check them out. You only get one set of ears. Protect them. Call now.

I remember when the Hartke Aluminum cones first came out, I had to own one. Then after blowing chunk after chunk of aluminum out of the speaker grill, they no longer looked so cool to me.
I think the issue was it was winter and the aluminum got cold and brittle while transporting the cabinet. I powered it up before it acclimated to room temperature. So in a way, user error. What were you using? I used the original Guild/Hartke 4x10 cabinets, and later a Samson 4.5XL and a 210XL for a decade and never had any blown speakers. I was Guild dealer and sold several of the bass cabinets before Hartke went to Samson and they never had problems. Just curious what was shredding cones in your rig.
Gold or black hardware makes me usually steer clear as well.
I also am not that enamoured by solid coloured basses either, and recently had my see through purple bass refinished with a clear coating so the quilt maple body can be seen in all it's glory. I do however have a solid black bass which i decided not to have refinished, only because when i bought it and posted pics on line i got a lot of interest and offers from bass players covering metallica music. So in the unlikely event of me putting it up for sale, that might be a plus point. All my other basses are natural wood finish.I will never own a black bass with a white pick guard again, and likely won’t own a solid opaque painted bass. All of my negative experiences with cheaper low end basses are associated with my first bass- black on single ply white Squier Affinity P. And solid colored basses possess a similar association in my mind.
Love what I learned on that bass, but just can’t go black on white again. Plus I find wood grain very pleasing to look at.
It's a not-just-you thing.Any factory made road worn. If I buy a used instrument, no issues at all. If it’s new? I’m like an investigative reporter looking for hidden anything! I’m sure it’s a “me” thing but I just don’t get the point.
