Aesthetic Elements That Put You Off From Purchasing Gear

What a bunch of babies. Grow up. The only instruments you don't buy are those you can't afford. ("The cheaper they are, the better they are." - Frank Zappa introducing "Cheepnis" on Roxy and Elsewhere. Same applies here.) If it ain't broke, don't fix it; if it is broke, sell it on eBay. :roflmao: Seriously, there aren't many things that would turn me off from a potential bargain. Ugly finishes can be redone, necks can be sanded down, broken electronics can be fixed or replaced... Broken, maxed truss rods on neck through instruments or severely warped and twisted necks that can't be straightened out are another story. Anything moribund or overpriced. I hate hacked up relic jobs that are obviously the result of idiots with power tools. Don't like Gothic, pointy black instruments or purposely beat up specimens sporting profane stickers. Modding and rejuvenating instruments is fun and can turn some sorry accidents into decent instruments. When you're done they can be passed on to good homes. Now if I can only catch that guy with the belt sander!

Fur?

I like the fact that it's also filthy. Imagine the cigarette smell!

There are a number of things I don't particularly like but will accept. Things immediately coming to mind are pointy body shapes, painted bodies (I'm color blind), narrow string spacing at the nut. Fortunately, the only thing I absolutely, positively cannot abide is easily and inexpensively rectified. I cannot stand un-tapered tuning posts! Builders: there is no redeeming quality of un-tapered tuning posts that offsets the lifetime of frustration using them.
