I'd almost consider buying one of these if they had a contoured upper edge. That's the biggest reason I sold my Ric. That binding is a killer.
yeah, my acoustic's got it, hate that 'effin binding, love how it looks, but, like the bridge, not worth the hassle.

guitars to be very well built with excellent fit and finish work. I have modded the Dillion Les Paul and a Jr Double Cut for clients. Both were good quality core guitars with decent hardware so I suspect the bass would be as well. Pickups and electronics were so so but better than most.

I just sold my mint 4003 Ric, but I would love to get a decent copy sometime in the future. While I loved the Ric I had, it didnt give me the "classic Ric tone" I thought I would get when I bought it (bought it from a fellow TBer without playing it first) Maybe my expectations were out of whack or the particular 4003 I had just had a different tone (and not that it was bad, just not what I expected).
If you live in the UK a company called Aniversary make Rick copies for about £350 gbp, which I guess is about $500 usd give or take.
They look the bomb but don't sound too much like a Rick (unless you are in a Yes tribute band this probably doesn't matter a great deal) and they are set neck, not neckthrough.

Thats still cheaper than the real steal. I played an Anniversary rickenfaker in a shop here in Scotland, the bridge and bridge pickup are the closest to the real thing I've seen on a 'faker. The pickup cover is metal, and not just a generic jazz/precision cover.

They will, but figure to add $100 for shipping and $45 for a wire transfer fee. Still, it's a good deal. They also make an extended size case, so it would probably benefit someone to order a bass with the case.
That Bach Music place is nuts!! They're doing (almost) Marcus Miller copies, and pretty decent looking relics among other things. Might take a punt on something...
I couldn't resist posting - here's my early 70's Ibanez Rick-copy. Bolt on neck, lightweight, sounds AMAZING with flatwounds. Got it for $275 locally because it was covered in nasty vinyl stripes. The guy told me there was no way I'd get these stripes off, and I agreed - hence the low price. Well, I got the stripes off of course
I put up a "wanted to buy" on Craigslist here in Chicago and got this bass within 3 days of my posting.
I'd say if you're lookin for an older one, the best way is post WTB ads everywhere you can locally or the internet.
