Definitely a nicer video, but that's clearly not an accident, unless there were zero security or bouncers there. They were coming up in streams from backstage entrances.
I think the stage has side steps up to it. If you watch from the very beginning it all starts with an overweight homely gal with her large purse strapped over shoulder. If it was staged you would think that they would have brought out a hottie first. Looks to be kind of spontaneous to me.

Guitar necks and headstocks can be pretty painful if you hit somebody with them, even accidentally. Those guy had to be paying pretty close attention to what was going on to avoid accidentally whacking any of those girls who came up on stage.
I'm not saying it's staged as in the girls were hired or cast as part of the show; I just mean it doesn't look like a stage rusher who slipped past the security guys. If they didn't want groupies on stage, security would have rushed in and started dragging girls off, or the band would have stopped. I think they must have an understanding, either premeditated or decided spontaneously, to open up the stage to fans.
Not to mention stage monitors, cables, effects pedals. As a sound guy, I've had to pull guys/girls off stage. In this case the stage was pretty big and roomy, and pretty neatly laid out. On tight stages, this could be a disaster.
I think they did. I don't know what their normal stage presence is like, but those guys seemed to keep it VERY mellow with all those girls around. The bass player, after getting kissed, actually worked his way out to the edge of the crowd and got himself some breathing space downstage right by the end of the vid.
Indeed. In fact, it looked to me like the stagehand was going nuts as the girls were coming on and scrambling to get all the cables smoothed out so no one would trip.
I that video a guy is charging him. He is lucky Richards used the guitar to block the guy and not to smash him in the face.
It seems to me that Richards used the guitar to block the guy. The guy tried to grab the guitar in response.

It's obviously clear that you can't guarantee what a person that gets on stage is going to do.......and you can't guarantee what an artist/performer is going to do in response either.
So the solution would be to always prevent people from getting on stage.
On the other hand there are bands and performers that hire girls to pretend they're groupies and stand in front of the stage grooving,smiling and clapping for the cameras.
But the female in this video did not appear to be one of those.
People do strange things when they are truly startled. My wife has often tapped me on the shoulder and scared the crap out of me when I have the headphones on and am deep into doing something on the keyboard. I know it's her because I know she's home at the time, so that's the end if it.. But there have been other situations in my life where this happened and the outcome was not the same at all.
Most of these people that get whacked on stage have no business being there in the first place. If you don't want to gamble with your immediate future...then stay off the stage.

Yeah, I can't tell but I looks like he saw her on stage at the very beginning of the video. I wish there was a couple more seconds at the front so we could see what lead up to that.
I hope I'm not opening a can of worms, but while I like some punk music, I never got the culture surrounding it. The normalcy of the band and audience fighting and spitting on each other is one of those things that makes me roll my eyes. Lee Ving used to satirize that stuff on stage when he was in Fear and people were so used to it that they always thought he was being serious.
I think this post pretty much nails it. She shouldn't have been on stage, but this is definitely a situation in which the punishment didn't fit the crime. Giving the woman "the look" would probably have sufficed enough for her to get the message that she shouldn't have been on stage. I've watched the video a few times now, and it's very uncomfortable to watch, especially since as others have pointed out, Afroman goes back to playing as if nothing happened.
Like many players on here, I've played venues that lack a stage, so you perform on the floor. I generally dislike those situations, because people are sometimes more willing to violate the band's personal space. It's obnoxious, but you deal with it in the best way you can. On the other hand, I've played some venues with no stage where the audience is very courteous and understands that the monitors create an invisible stage front that they should respect.
P.s. While I'm not one to give in to the Internet bravado that always arises with these stories, I've played and frequented some venues where I know if a performer did something similar, C-list one hit wonder rapper or not, the crowd would ensure that person wouldn't be walking out that night unscathed.
