There have been playing situations where I judged which bass to take based on the need to possibly bash someone for protection/self defense.

On these occasions, my Fender basses have undoubtedly been the ones I've chosen to bring.

^Not a joke.

We may have played in the same clubs at some point.....

I don't know where you're finding all these shabby Fender basses, but every Fender I've picked up that was made in the last 5 years has been of excellent quality. Every MusicMan bass I've played from that time period has been superb.

Yeah I wondered that myself. I find myself somewhat of a 'fan' of Fender but agree Fender has had some s**t QC and product at times.

I have been hitting all the shops lately and almost every American Fender I've gotten my hands on is dead on great. I am suprised but their quality has gone up/tightened up for sure. At least my sampling of the stock out there.

I've never player a MIJ that was any better than a MIM in the build dept. and I've owned a few.

I've tried a fair few dozen MIMs in my time in music shops , and I can honestly say I prefer Squiers and Vintage's (British budget brand) over them. They're better made, constructed and sound better . They should do away with the MIM range imo.

I don't know if it's just luck or coincidence but every MIJ I've tried are much better in all departments than any of the MIA's. I even went as far as to part ex my modified Yamaha TRB1005J for a gorgeous limited edition Jazz 66 reissue MIJ, it was that good an instrument I couldn't let it pass .. There was the option of various American deluxe and an original 73 MIA . But they just didn't cut it over the MIJ which was also less in price . They also had a gorgeous modified Jazz PJ MIJ in candy red , but i wanted a pure Jazz with single pickups..

I'm just speaking from honest experiences, I know some people won't agree but that's the way things have been with me. I understand MIA's are more of a trophy bass and keep their value well and maybe I will pick one up someday and say "yeah, this one is dogs bollocks". But for now, I rest my case...

I love my P-Bass, but I don't hit it with a hammer. The hammer would get hurt, and I like the hammer, too.

But, it doesn't have the best G-string for metal. So, it is a lousy instrument. Maybe it's hiding in the neck pocked. Nobody looked there yet.
