He fixed up the preamp tube socket in my Shuttle 9.0 last year and got it back to me on its cross country there-n-back in just a little over a week. He has graciously given me advice on the side in private messages when I was too embarrassed to ask openly. Genz made some of the greatest gear for our amplification needs, and the Uber 410 I let go was a beast (I just didn’t want a 410 anymore). I’ve tinkered with the idea of adding a Streamliner to the arsenal if only I wasn’t worn out from GAS and swapping stuff…but maybe in the future. Andy generously gives us succinct, ironclad, no BS information. His presence here is one of the top reasons I purchased a lifetime membership to TB.

Agreed, and it surely is no coincidence that my two main amps are a Genz Benz Shuttle and a Mesa Subway DI (plus power amp).

He recently went out of his way and helped me with an issue I had with my D800....all covered under factory warranty. Defiantly a reason for sticking with Mesa and the Subway line, a high quality product, coupled with great service and the ability to interact directly with the designer, is a rare combination.

I’d just like to take a moment to acknowledge the tremendous resource/wellspring of knowledge that we have amongst us, and to start a thread where others can chime in regarding their own positive experiences with our resident amp guru.
@agedhorse has not only displayed verifiable competence in regards to many of our gear queries, but shares his wealth of knowledge freely and without reserve, often offering to go further with a fellow Talkbasser via private messaging and often offering his (at times) unsolicited insight/professional advice to those dealing with issues from brands with which he is not only unaffiliated, but also in direct competition with.
I often marvel at the insight he freely offers, and am always happy to see him chime in on a particular discussion, so while I’m fairly confident that he would prefer to not have anyone raise a glass (so to speak) on his behalf, I nonetheless feel acknowledgments are in order.
@agedhorse you are a true Talkbass icon, and a credit to the bass community at large. Thank you for everything you do here. May you be deeply Blessed, and feel truly appreciated in all your endeavors. Cheers.

What a great idea for a thread! I too have learned a lot from him the last year or so I’ve been engaged on this forum and always appreciate his input. He’s a true hero that has saved members countless dollars, and endless hours of misery, frustration, and grief. Hats off folks, and agedhorse, take a well deserved bow!

I love the fact that so many people that are “in the business” of making bass gear have an active presence on talkbass, not to mention an interest in hearing what we want. It is a great time to be a bass player, in part because of all the intelligently made amps, cabs, pedals, etc.

Best part of a Mesa rig is knowing @agedhorse will come pick it up if it ever needs a repair. Right?

Andy has been an invaluable resource to us all, and I have nothing but the greatest respect and am so grateful that he's more than willing and available to lead us back out of the weeds time and time . . . . and time again. I don't know why he takes the time to do it (although I get a satisfying chuckle when I can hear his blood pressure rising after a real bozo question and the guy STILL is determined to stand in a puddle of water with his 1/4" to fake Neutrik Speakon plugged into his 212 he put those 'other' replacement speakers in) but I'm so appreciative that he's willing to do it.
