Aggressive sounding bass

Thanks for all the info so far gang.... greatly appreciated. Just want to clear something up. I am not really looking for a Stingray replacement... just an agressive bass with Stingray like qualities. Yes I love the Stingrays.. played them at GC and there is no doubt the are one of a kind. Just looking for something like them but different..lol.. if that makes sense..LOL

I have and LOVE my '95 ATK300. It's as aggressive as i could ask for. That said, a G&L L-2000 is way up on my GAS list.

I would advise to really look for a US... there IS a difference between the two. I personally like the US wayyy more than the Tributes... but hey, that's why they are more expensive, right?

I would also strongly advise that you keep looking for the ATK. It won't hurt your wallet too bad. I'll just say that i have had some "nice" basses over the years that have come and gone, but after a recent cleaning (er... pawning for rent money), i am more than satisfied with just having my ATK300 and my SX P/J. So yeah... find an ATK... it's worth it.

Bit of advice for you....

If you decide on an L2000, go for a used MIA L2000. They show up used in the $700 price range ALL the time. Check the TB classifieds regularly and be patient. I advised to go for the Ray34 earlier because 1) I thought that was what you wanted and 2) used USA EBMM Stingrays rarely sell for $700. Even $800 can be a stretch. But, the G&Ls go for that price all the time and would be worth the wait instead of the instant gratification of a Tribute L2000/L2500. Just IMO...YMMV.

OK well the decision has been made.... after going around to every music store I could find in Buffalo, NY area.... I have decided on a Fender P-Bass.... I know I said I was not a fender guy... and I have tried them before and they just didn't do it for me...

But I went into GC last night after my lessons, tried a MIA and a MIM P bass, definately liked the MIA better, but the MIM was very close in feel and sound. Played it through as close an amp to mine at home I could find. I have a Ampeg BR200. Tube pre solid state power. the closest I could find was a BA215 I think it was... first tried it through a Mark Bass and hated it.... then I figured find something closer to what I have at home... I did.. and WOW.... the exact sound I wanted.... grit and growl and all... I can even get good ole thump from it too...lol...

So now per "She who must be obeyed"....lol.... I gotta wait about 2 to 3 months and she said I can get what I want.... :hyper: so I beging the search on e-bay and here for one. Thanks for all the input.. I know I ended up going way off bass of what I said I wanted but... when it feels right it feels right...think the man upstairs guided me to this... wasn't even thinking of Fender...lol..

Sorry for the long post :)
