Aguilar - AG Preamp Pedal

I hoped from their teaser that this would be a combo…

On the Tone Hammer I always wanted a second level knob tied to the AGS footswitch (casue without control of the level the footswitch wasn't very useful). Now they come out with a new DI pedal with a second footswitch but it toggles through bright/deep/bright and deep/off? Not sure who was asking for that but it wasn't me.
I do like the aux in/headphone jack and compact size.

That headphone input with a mix kob though. That's a killer feature for me.
also it cycles through - so it’s not like you could kick deep mode on for the Chorus and then off again - interesting choice
Finally, an Aguilar product with a headphone out and aux-in feature. I really loved my AG700 when I had it, so having the sound of that amp in a preamp is pretty cool, and tempting...
wish they would of crammed more stuff into it. would of been killer to have the AGRO built into it and the bright deep on mini switches
From what I can tell, I like it better than the tone hammer. Not surprising given the fact that also prefer the AG amps over the tone hammer amps.
The second footswitch seems useless, it would really be better if it wasn't even there IMO
I like both but the short-comings of each makes me pause on a purchase. Ideally, I would like an AG with the AGS circuit and switch of the Tone Hammer.

Thoughts (from a LONG devotee/user of the ToneHammer DI):
I trust Aguilar gear to sound great and work reliably. I'm a fan.
I've used a ToneHammer DI religiously for over a decade as my primary live show DI. Recently I switched to a ShiftLine Olympic for the IR loading capabilities, but my ToneHammer DI has a second life as the front-end of my recording setup coupled with a 5w tube power amp into an SL112 for miced amp duties in my home studio. (I run a parallel line through an Aguilar tube direct box for my direct tone. I've actually used that religiously even longer!) The ToneHammer served me well live on multiple continents, literally hundreds of thousands of miles, hundreds of shows, in crazy environmental situations, abused horrifically & still works and sounds GREAT. I will never, never part with it.
That said, I'm going to buy this new AG DI. Purely because Aguilar never lets me down & it might inspire new tonal pathways for me creatively. I do not, however, understand why they implemented the bright/deep in the manner they did. Seems a little clumsy. But, that's ok- everyones use scenario will differ slightly. What I think is a significant oversight/shortcoming is the lack of an unaffected parallel output or 'thru' option. This is crucial for MANY setup scenarios & notably was also a shortcoming with my beloved ToneHammer DI (see how I remedied that issue here: Aguilar Tone Hammer DI unaffected out mod )
I will be purchasing this AG Preamp asap & look forward to the possibilities! I'm always excited when Aguilar releases something new.

Im definitely on this. This is exactly what im looking for. Been using a Phil Jones Big Head, but it couldnt handle a pedal board input. Crowded market, but as far as i know, nobody is doing a headphone out/ aux in blend in a pedal. Please correct me if im wrong.
Isn't that what the Messenger does? Among other things.
The darkglass Element can blend between the two sources but that is a very different pedal.
I really dig this, except for the second bright/deep/deep-bright foot switch. I hope I am miss understanding, but if I am getting the function correctly on a gig if I want to go from deep to off I have to hit the foot switch twice, from bright to off - three times. If this is how it works there would be much better ways to implement this.
Does it have Aux in? I looked at it and dont recall that feature. There is a thread on it, and i saw some grumbling. (edited) i see now it does, indeed have Aux in. I wasnt too enthused with the preloaded digital aspect(s). It is also another $50…
