Aguilar - AG Preamp Pedal

The SGT-DI has headphone out/aux in with volume controls. I think EBS’ MicroBass 3 has those options also. The EBS site is not working for me. So, I can’t confirm.

Ive owned two EBS pedals, and they remain the only two pedals ive ever had fail. Ive got 40+ pedals. Thank you, though.
Didn't like the TH preamp and don't care for this one either.
Some bass players actually like bass in their tone.
Who took the bass out of bass playing ?
Perhaps someone could do a video where they actually dial in some bass instead of all this mid range, top end nonsense.

I really wish it had an analog cab sim option and the ability to run on phantom power. I think I'll continue relying on my trusty VTDI whenever I need to travel with minimal gear.

I pulled the trigger on this Aguilar AG yesterday morning. I love my AG 700 head and figured I'd probably really like this too.

Lol. So you're sharing you're opinion regarding a lack of low-end based on your experience of using the ToneHammer? I doubt it ("doubt" being generous).
I asked for it years ago but have moved on from aguilar gear. I know I'm in the minority but I don't care about over drive on bass. This pedal has the same voicing issues their ag 700 does.
What voicing issues do you see? I'm curious since I haven't used it, and I like what I've heard on YT with both AG700 and AG pedal. Of course YT compresses and it's not the best, but it's what I've got....
Well I own an AG 700. Not a bad amp, but its kinda of thing/punchy compared to my Mesa/GK heads. They should have stuck with their AG500 voicing.
Voicing issues:
1) The 'deep' switch is oddly voiced. Its +6db for everything under 250hz. Ends up making things more box and woody that 'deep' AG 500 was at 100hz. Much better.
2) Bass knob is voiced a big low at 40hz. Not usually an issue but the knee seems to be a bit steep, probably because they included the deep switch. But not that usable for me.
3) low mid and high mid are at 800 and 300 hz. I like the ag 500 at 1k and 400hz better
4) Bright switches and treble controls are at 3k and 4k respectively. Good for cut, but boosts is harsh.

Did the original tone hammer have a transformer? I think the larger housing is much cooler and I ASSUME it feels more substantial/rugged.
Thanks for the input! I like woody so that's probably why it's not bugging me. For context, what style music/bass are you playing through it?
I'm thinking for my setup, what's not working for you might for me. I can use my audere pre to get pretty bassy at times (z switch is cool), so being able to cut at 40 but boost at 250 might work magic to get bass without mud.
I picked mine up from Sweetwater yesterday morning and wouldn't you know it, it sounds like an AG! For those of us that love that sound, it's an answer to prayers. I typically keep the bright and deep switches always on when using my AG700 so the second switch seems superfluous but some might find it useful.
When putting it on my pedalboard yesterday I had to position it differently than my tonehammer due to the fact the XLR out is on the side, not the top. That means that I can't have it too close to the left handle on my Temple Board. Not a deal breaker, but something to keep in mind when it comes to pedalboard placement.
The bonus is that it's nearly half the height of the ToneHammer so I could probably squeeze another pedal above it on my small board.

I agree that many demo videos have this mids/mid-bass focus without much deeper bass. This is especially true for "official" demos. (The Aguilar demos do have some small parts featuring full-bodied tones. Add in YouTube's limitations and you get more mid-bass focus as that is what "can" be reproduced). That, and the players play WAY more politely than I do. It is a turn off for me. I do understand that my Paleolithic approach to playing bass is not for everyone or everyone's style. I love how Nate Navarro opens rocking the SGT-DI.
Sometimes you have to dig deeper than the first videos that come up.
Here ya go for the Tone Hammer DI. Lots of deep bass going on.

I'm playing everything from classic country to hard rock, covers only. Main bass is a g&l l-1000 5string or a 5 string jazz. But yeah were going for opposite sounds here. I'd probably never cut bass that way, I'd use and hpf instead. Pokey middy tone just not my thing. Aguilar stuff to me just has a thing sound.
