I tried and that surprised me with its quality, terrible! I couldn't believe that they left it this way from the design. The preamp were perfect and I almost bought it until this point as I need it for my practice too

The Broughton MessengerV2 absolutely blows it out of the water and is available at the same price.

Is anybody feeding this with a CIOKS DC-7 or something less than 360ma? I've had two AG pedals now where the preamp is always in the signal chain irrespective of the setting of the ENGAGE switch. I can only think it is a power-related issue (and I assumed the DC-7 will handle everything of course - but it limits at 330ma at 18v).

Has anyone tested out the aux-in on this preamp? Wondering if it sums to mono or if it’s the pure stereo signal.

The Bluetooth on my PJB NanoX4 is mono, so I set the laptop/source to mono so I can hear both channels. Not sure if it's also a solution for Aux-in, but something to consider.

Something to note is that the ENGAGE switch will only affect the 1/4" out. The XLR and Headphone are always 'engaged'. I thought it was faulty but Aguilar have confirmed that it is designed this way.

Had one, bought it to use as a practice preamp to mix yootube content with my pedal board, and it was outperformed by the Broughton Messenger. Never played it over my cabinet, but overall it didn’t fit my needs. The Aux/In volume was anemic.

I've had it since it first released. I still use it every week and enjoy the clean EQ for slight tweaks for my PA tone. Recommend if you're interested in the AG sound without the price

I just got mine back from a friend and put this pedalboard together:

I wanted a super clean preamp/DI for my MTD, but some SVT flavor for my P bass.

Here it is a year and half later lol…I had it replace my RNDI (which is still my favorite Active DI) so I can send a EQ signal to the FOH. I wasn’t happy with the lack of anything EQ wise with sound man that is not my own.

To me, with both the high and low engaged, low mid cut to about 10 O’clock and the upper mid brought to about 2 o’clock you can get a pseudo clean GK type tone.
