Aguilar GS 212 MAJOR issues

Just bought an Aguilar DB 751 and a GS 212, my dream setup... or so I thought.
I've just received my 3rd cabinet from Musician's Friend as the other two sounded fried when I got them, THIS ONE DOES TOO!
I've hooked the DB 751 up to my Epifani 4x10 and it sounds fine. In short, done every little switcharoo I can think of to isolate the issue and it seems to point to the GS 212 every time.
Has anyone had any problems with Aguilar cabs similar to this? I was of the mind they have a rock solid reputation. I own some of the stompboxes and they're killer. The head is gorgeous. Just can't figure out what's going on. Extremely disappointed so far.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guys!:bawl:

That's really odd. Sounds like MF.com received a bad batch of them and you keep getting cabs from the same batch!

Contact Aguilar directly and explain to them. They SHOULD shed light on the situation. Then give them one more chance before demanding total refund.

:hmm:

Have you checked your cable? What do the cabs sound like?

Sounds kind of like a problem that I'm having right now. Ordered a GS112 like three months ago. It arrived May 2nd and it sounded fried as well. Contacted the reseller immediately but I've been waiting for over two months now for a replacement while sending them several e-mails, asking when I can expect it to be replaced. The defective cab is still sitting here, waiting to be picked up. Finally I emailed them yesterday that I'm done with it and that I want a full refund. It's a well known reseller in the UK but so far their support isn't what you'd expect.

Paired it with an MB LMII by the way. This amp sounded fine with a borrowed MB 4x10 so I'm sure it's the cab. I had already bought a cover for this cab but I'm now reconsidering my options.

A quick noodle to show you how it sounds:

if speaker frame has been worped during shiping ,ie dropped from over 4 feet , i do maitenece in warehouses for big brown shipping company and have seen many packages come off third level to concrete and get loaded on vans for delivery, to check gently push cone back,it should move freally and not feel like sand paper, make sure amp is off first

i had a similar issue with my aguilar 4x10 cab, fried my speakers one by one, each time i had the speaker re-coned as the original aguilar speakers were too expensive....the reconed speakers have been fine, i did them one by one as the original aguilar speakers blew. i tried going to aguilar and the seller but they were quick to blame my pedals and some other crap.....
prior to that i was playing through gk cabs, never had a issue.

i think i just got some dodge aguilar speakers

actually aguilar tried to blame the fact that i was using octave and synth pedals and thats what was frying the speakers.....ummmm excuse me but if the product your selling cant be used with effects pedals ( which is a stupid reason) maybe place a warning....

In my case the first Brand New GS112 I got had no sound at all! Probably shouldn't have but I opened it up and found that the speaker had not been connected! I hooked it up and fine from there on. At the NAMM show in Nashville I spoke with Aguilar man and he apologized but also Thanked me for looking into it before I returned it.
I loved the cabinet until I blew a speaker. First blown speaker in 30 years of playing. Maybe a Fluke! Bought a second GS112 her on TalkBass. Great for awhile! Then I popped another speaker. I'm now done with Aguilar speakers! And they were never over powered!
Probably just bad lunk on my end but never the less it is my story!
Now I am rocking a single Uber Quad! WOW!

Have a Great Day!

Good point. Fedex dropped a Quattro I sent to a TBer in Nashville, and the magnets on two of the speakers pulled away from the basket. Fedex resolved the issue 100 percent for me.

Regarding whether your effects have anything to do with the failures, if you're using a Micro POG or other octaver that will produce the sub-octave, that very easily can kill a speaker. They're not designed to handle frequencies in the 20 hz range at any appreciable volume, which would be an open E an octave down. With three in a row going bad, my money is on user error.
