Try with more master and less gain. The best advise I ever got with this amp is to crank the master and use the gain as my VOL, keeps it clean, and use the DRIVE knob to warm it up. Usually my drive is around 10 or 11 now, where I disliked it before when gain was higher and master lower.
Play with reducing the bass knob, lower your mid Freq to say 9 o'clock and the mid level to 3.

if you go pre on the Di then any changes to the gain knob won't effect the front of houseOnly problem with running the TH500 this way is if you're running the DI into a PA system, every time you adjust the Gain or Drive controls you're affecting the signal to the PA which your soundman isn't going to like! I usually set and forget at least the Gain control and then adjust the Master control for stage volume which doesn't affect the DI output, keeps the soundman much happier!

Yes. And, very useful, too.Question about the TH500. I had the gain and drive off and found that the master still has a lot of volume. It get's pretty loud. Is this a normal function of this amp?
Either another SL112 or the Berg will make a huge difference in your volume. I know for me it's night & dDay when I add a 2nd 112. I would get another SL112. Two smaller cabs are easier to haul than one larger cab.
Awesome. Glad it worked out for you..Got the second sl112 and you were right, perfect because I don't dread load-in/load out.
