Is only one [at a time] really happening ToneHammer sound better than all that?

I mean, the SansAmp sounds good; does the ToneHammer kill that much more?

Tastes do differ. You could give the Sansamp 1000 presets and I wouldn't use any of them... I prefer to have one or two great sounds. I've never heard anything from the SABDDI that I'd want to save or use in a live context... but that's me .

My BDDI has no switches for presets. It's just the standard pedal so needs hands to make it sound different. I always thought the BDDI made my tone a little bit too muddy or too bright. Never just the right thing. The Tone Hammer can do pretty much everything better than the SansAmp ( IMO ) and does it all better. Plus you can get a real crisp clear sound that I found lacking in the BDDI. I think it does "kill that much more".

Just posted in the 'Post your pedalboard' thread, but am so excited about my 'nearly' completed board! Only needs final wiring and everything is powered by the Burkey Flatliner. Will post more review details of the Tonehammer soon, but gotta play with it more first

When the unit is engaged,
1/4" out is always post EQ. Only DI is affected by Pre/Post switch.

Straight from the manual: 1/4" input, 1 meg Ohm.

Well, if the unit isn't engaged, then obviously the outputs won't be wet.

Sorry for the confusion. Yes, when the unit is not engaged, the 1/4" out is in "true bypass" mode, like most pedals. I've edited my previous post to be a little less misleading.

Just recieved my Tonehammer today. Just played with it for an hour or so but I like it. The overdrive sounds very warm and tube like, just what I was hoping for.

What I didn't like is that there was no adapter that came along with it. I was expecting that it came with the adapter but the adapter is optional.
What PSU can I use for it? only the one from Aguilar or is a different one just as good? I live in Europe so do I need another adapter, or does the Aguilar adapter also work in europe?

And where can I order the Aguilar adapter?

Hi Barend,

I bought my Tonehammer from Bass Matters in Nijmegen and he is selling them with the Aguilar power supply, which works internationally (nice design) But most 18v power adapters from a local music/electrical store will work.

I am also from the Netherlands. I also bought my AG500 at Bassmatters and the Tonehamer at Thoman. Does Bassmatters sell the power supply seperately? and what is the price for the adapter?

And can you give me the exact specifactions for the adapter, in case I want to buy a different one at a local electrical store.

Not sure if he'll have a spare powersupply there as there unless one of the buyers doesn't take the supply when buying. Also, the price was including the supply so not sure of the price breakdown.

Tried checking the adapter I bought to check the details, but it's a little complicated to work out (loads of obscure numbers on there as it's a switchable/international plug). But any 18v Boss-style power supply will do. I'm actaully powering mine on the pedalboard with a Flatliner set for 18v and using the power supply when just taking the Tonehammer out.

I just sold my AI Clarus 2R Series III.

Can I just run
Bass --> Tone Hammer
--> A) 1/4" --> Stewart power amp --> bass cabs
--> B) DI/XLR --> FOH
?

Can it be my only preamp/DI - my only interface to FOH and stage power amp?

NOTE: I am also considering a MarkBass head to go the simple and more portable route. Either would sound good I'd think.

Yes...

That was a concern of mine and there is enough output that the Tone hammer acts as a separate pre. (not like the 924)
