Well I've posted on here asking opinions on markbass products. I'm getting closer to making a decision. I think I'm going to go with the little mark tube 800 paired with two traveler 12 cabs. I'm thinking this will be a versatile rig for every type of gig. I was playing through my singers rig which was an ampeg svt-3 pro into a SVT-410HLF cab. That was a fun rig to play through but the cab is a pain to haul and it blew a speaker(s) last show. Anyway, any opinions or suggestions? Thanks

If you are doing many outdoor gigs I'd suggest getting the regular MB cabs instead of the Traveler due to the Traveler cabs being rear ported.

As long as you're not trying to play metal, I think it would be a very nice small rig that would handle pretty much anything outside of metal. However, I see no need to use the LMTube 800. You're not going to be able to put the claimed 400w that those cabs are supposed to take anyway. They will get loud but when I had my Mini CMD121P combo it wouldn't quite take the entire 300w the LMII puts into it. So save a few bucks and get a regular LMTube.
Markbass doesn't make a 112 in anything but a Traveler or a NY series. And the port location doesn't matter...it's the size of the cab that makes the difference.

You'll lose a little low end reinforcement if there's nothing behind it regardless of the port location. Since those frequencies are omnidirectional, it doesn't matter where they come from.
That's a good point. I was wondering about that. looks like the traveler 121 takes a max 400 watts at 8 ohms while the LMtube 800 does 500 watts at 8 ohms and 800 watts at 4 ohms. Hmm, not sure that would work then.
It'll work for one reason...the cabs aren't going to let you turn them up that loud without sounding really nasty
Maybe if you're planning on putting together a big cab rig around the LMT 800 in the future it would be worth it to have it, but if not, just get the LM Tube or LMIII.

it would work just fine.
you just have to listen to the speaker when you're really pushing it to make sure that you're not driving it past its excursion limit, which is pretty easy to tell (farting/distorting). the LMtube800 as well as the LMII or III actually have enough power to blow the speaker if you weren't careful. that rating is for 400 watt thermal watts, not mechanically, so with alot of bass content, i'd be surprised if most any 12 could really take much more 250 watts before it started distorting.
At an estimated 250w worth (going by ear and dial positions before clipping the head) which isn't accurate but probably close), those cabs sound like they're going to explode. And honestly, that's pretty remarkable that you can get 12" speakers that will hold up to 250w worth of bass. I don't consider that an indictment of those small cabs. It's just physics.
That's using the lm tube or lmII correct? So you're saying that head would be putting out 500 watts, 250 to each cab right? Into one cab it would be 300 watts yes? That ampeg I was using was about 425 watt head, I'm not sure what the cab could take, well it can't take anything now.
LOL! Sounds like that will soon be taken care of. But yeah, this was with the LMII that came with my 112 combo.
Ok, so I went ahead and finally bought some gear. I went with the SD800 and two 121H Traveler cabs. I've played a few practices and one gig. So far so good. At practice I can definitely hear myself now and there's an added low end that we never had before that adds a lot to our sound without getting in the way of anyone else. I played an outside show, didn't have a very good PA so no line out. It handled it great. I do have some concerns about the cabs though. They have farted out a few times, but only when I really thump on my bass. The speakers look like they want to jump right out of the cab sometimes. They do sound nice and give a good low end, but I feel like I might be pushing them a bit much. I'm thinking it might be best just to go with a 4x10 that has some nice low end and maybe add a 1x15 for larger shows. Looks like Markbass has a couple 4x10's the standard 104HF and 104HR. Looks like one is ported and the other isn't. Do you think the ported one has more low end output? Also the traveler 151P looks pretty sweet too. Now my only problem is if I get the two cabs in both 8 ohms then when I play just the 4x10 alone my head will only be putting out 450 watts instead of 750 at 4 ohms. I'm sure 450 will be fine for that cab, it's rated at 800. Thoughts?? Do they make cabs that you can switch between 4 and 8 ohms? Is that even possible?
Both of those 410 Markbass cabs are ported. The F in "104HF" means it's a front port.The R in "104HR" means it's a rear ported cab. The only non-ported 410 cab they make is the Classic 104.
i would do two of the 210 cabs instead of two of the 112 cabs. i like markbass' 10's i think they sound great. i like them better then the b&c 12's they use. i would honestly sit down at your local gc with the lm3, lmtube, and lm800tube and see what setup you like with those cabs. id be inclined to say youd like the 2 210 cabs better the the 2 112 cabs with either of those heads.
