Alembic Balance K "inspired" (semi-replica) build

Incredibly impressive execution of what i consider the most beautiful body shape around. Its always looked unattainable , but im determined to build one of these before i die. A long road ahead of skills to.acquire before i try that one though! Thanks for posting it, a great pleasure watching this come together. I hope you do decide to put On a gloss finish, as that will really make the grain shimmer, but it looks damn good as-is.

Beautiful! Except for the knobs...:eyebrow:

I too was concerned about that fantastic brass tailpiece next to the black Hipshot, but removing the finish from the saddles was a surprisingly cohesive solution - kudos!

You are pulling off stuff on your hossenfeffer build that I haven't even tried yet.
You are better than you give yourself credit for.

Yeah.... I'm not too sure I dig those knobs either. But I'm going to wait till it's clear coated & glossy before passing final judgment.
There is some red coloring in that top that might be brought to fore with the clear ...that would serve to justify the color of the knobs.

Thank you!... and all the other props from you all...really means alot to me!

It sounds really good.
The low B sounds like a piano... very clear, (not at all muddy.)
If I had any way other than a cell phone to record it... I would post a sound clip.

@mapleglo has a ton of gear... maybe she would let me come over & record a clip.?:whistle:

Hell yes...and then some!... I mean...mapleglo's collection of builds is REALLY deserving of the "spectacular" descriptive. ...frickin Basses, guitars, pedal steels...superbly working cos-play replicas....etc...etc...etc...
She's probably built a damn contrabass, a sitar, and a harpsichord that she hasn't told us about yet...:jawdrop:

I FRICKIN ABSOLUTELY LOVE THIS TAPE!!!!!

.... it's the shiz....
Look at how nice it wraps around frets with only a quick swipe of the thumbnail. ..and cuts precisely like a dream.!!;)
Even the middle piece that I didn't really care about is fairly tight.

Hi, I'm back, and yes its time to clear gloss the poo out of my Alembic repro....

(Which is already sold....so I better not -f- it up!!):nailbiting:

Pretty good day,
Made sure I did a couple things I learned the last time I shot conversion varnish.
Did a quick 320g scuff to freshen it up & take off any little scuff marks from playing it for a month.
Then spent some quality time with an air hose and a new tooth brush, to get ALL THE DUST out of the pores ;)

Laid down about 3 solid coats today.
I'll let that cure over night.... then do a preliminary level sand in the morning, followed by two more coats.
Gotta love CV.... none of that pesky waiting 3-5 days to sand &...even longer to buff.
I could have this sucker polished by tomorrow night.
If I feel like working late.
