Here's my 1990 custom Élan:

• Maple body core, Walnut and Quilted Maple top
• Maple and Purple Heart 5-piece neck, brass nut, dual truss rods
• Macassar Ebony fingerboard, oval Mother-of-Pearl inlays, side LEDs, first fret marker, 26 frets
• Stanley Clarke signature electronics, side mount jack, brass sustain block

:D

If there is a Wikipedia entry for Quilted Maple, this needs to be the photo reference.

The thing that sets many Alembics apart from the other luxury basses is the angled neck(like a Les Paul). Does anybody else in the bass luthier world do this? I haven't seen one. I should also mention the less attainable Alembic's having a brass Sustain Block. Plus, they have the Wizard Man doing the electronics.

Another factor in my love for Alembic is the climate they are assembled in. Northern California is a better place for wood, than say..New York City.

Hi there... This is my first post and, well, I will begin asking for help from the club.

Can someone help me to identify if this Epic is real or a copy?

Invalid Link Removed

It has no original pick ups anymore, but the price is so cheap (the guy needs money and asking U$850), that worth a replacement. The serial is on the electronics cavity and stands for a 93 bass: 93w8106.

Many thanks...

Looks real to me. Would like to see the headstock to confirm, though.

Unfortunately I have to let this wonderful bass go:
1996 Essence 5
Quilted maple top
purplehear accent
mahogany body
ebony fingerboard
gold tuners @ brass hardware
no inlays
Volume, pan, tone, and LED on-off controls with the q-switch upgrade
Red side LEDs
Neck width at nut 1.94"
Overall cosmetic condition 9, in perfect working order.
A fitted Canvas case with zippered pockets is included.
I have the wood card for you, but not straplocks or tool kit.
Price $2000 firm if paid by cash or check, $2100 firm if paid by PayPal, MC, or Visa.
Local pickup will be OK with a cash payment - I live in the Jupiter FL area. To ship I will take the bass to UPS and have them box it up with styrofoam - and you'll pay for that separately, whatever the amount is that they charge me.
