Alembic....what more can I say?

I haven't picked up my Alembic Persuader in a couple of months. Most of my time has been spent with my DP Custom (for more contemporary sounds) and a "new to me" Precision for that "thump". I picked up the 86 Persuader....there just something about it that is so sweet and can't really be defined. The feel, the weight, the ballsy tone....just wanted to share with my fellow bass brothers...

I owned a pair of Alembics back in the late 90's, but eventually sold them as I became aware that I was actually seeking more of a "vintage" passive sound.
But when I see THIS... wth somewhat more traditional electronics... dangit!!!! I want one again!

Always wanted an Alembic, came within inches of owning an 80's Persuader, but it fell through. I would have had to sell two other basses (including my Ric) to swing it, but I still wish I gotten it. A heavy bass, but heirloom quality and tone monster. I eventually plan on building a "balance k" style clone, someday.......

I've got a friend who's wanting me to trade my American '58 Precision reissue for his pristine Essence.
I might have to consider that-the Alembic is a beautiful maple topped one...but i also really like the P.
His bass has no fret markers,and the side dots are miniscule...i could see myself "misplacing" my fingers whilst playing it.

The minuscule side dots are why I sold my Essence. As for selling the other three, I just lost my mind.

My Alembic will always by my number 1.

Mine has the VPT+q, always leave the q on and very easy to dial in, really no bad sounds unless solo bridge with tone dimed... Even that I've used plenty of times when I couldn't hear myself during a set.

I've often said that and many have accused me of being a snob. But I have played just about every brand out there and my Alembic is, IMHO, the "Cadillac of basses". I don't care if people don't agree.... I just tell them to try one before they make any judgement. Truthfully, I had an Alembic Rogue 5 string that I couldn't bond with.... so, I traded it for a medium scale Persuader (the guy kicked in a pretty sum of cash too) and have never looked back.
