It is also possible that some people never saw a guitar stand in the 60s or 70s. As you said G-Dog many did not want to spend the money on a stand with strings and cables that were always breaking needed. We assume we all live in America where many were fortunate. This forum has people in it from around the world. Other countries may not have had stands. I don’t know. I know I kept my basses and guitars in the cases. It wasn’t until I was a part of a band across town at a rehearsal place where the guys father had money that I saw a guitar stand for the 1st time. It’s that one in the picture I posted. So I guess all things can be true here. One bassist I knew who actually eventually made a career out of playing his whole life carried his first bass around in a garbage bag! Lol.

I dunno if this is the case everywhere, but my local Target store seems to have plenty of their Special Edition Get Back books. This display was hidden between the aisles and turned so the recipe books were outwardly visible, and The Beatles book hidden, a couple weeks ago when I recruited 2 Target employees (to take 30 minutes) to find me a copy!

I don’t think you’ll get much agreement on this. His creative input was being suppressed. Occasionally that frustration bubbled up to the surface. At some point he decided he would finish Let It Be, then Abbey Road (2 of the tracks tracks are his and very highly regarded). Then he went solo and had great success.

I think he was as important as any of the 4. They grew up together. Learned how to play music together. Became adults together. Most people would point to those amazing harmonies as one of the most important aspects and brilliance of the Beatles. Without George those don’t happen.

Also the more and more I pull apart these songs the more and more I appreciate what George and Ringo brought to the table. George seemed to be kinda whiny to me in the first episode. But I think he was just fed up with the Fab Four by then. They all were. So he wasn’t taking direction well.
I’m sure they all had moments when they could be jerks. I love John so don’t get me wrong here. But he was very annoying to me here often. Childish. A wise guy and too much of that gets annoying after a while.

I think with George there was this little brother dynamic. I think he was 14 when he joined the band? Paul was 15? John 17? So most of us are familiar with that little brother dynamic. I have two older brothers. So always kinda picking on you. Dismissing you. Giving you a hard time. That’s what brothers do to each other. But they love you. But they were in they late 20s by this time and George was probably just sick of it. I get it. Paul admitted as much after George died and said they were in a good place when he left this world. That’s cool.

And last I’m glad they didn’t freeze dry a one month period in my life when I was in my late 20s for everyone to judge me by today at 60 and as being that person forever. I’m a much better version of who I was then. I’m sure all of the Beatles are now or were better versions of themselves when they passed later in life. It’s how life works.

And if we want to extrapolate on how Paul felt about George, Paul later composed one of, if not the, best bass parts in his entire career for George’s song “Something”. Now George may have thought it was a little “busy” at the time. But he later backpedaled on that. And the bass part for “Here Comes The Sun” isn’t exactly a throwaway.

After Harrison's passing McCartney commented that George did not suffer fools gladly. That was telling about his personality. He was also the catalyst for quitting touring. Strong minded, certainly. Replaceable? That's arguable considering how tight a unit they had become playing together 12 hours a day for three years in Hamburg, and then causing a stir at the Cavern Club in Liverpool.

George as a person was a bit full of himself. He enjoyed the Beatle and solo money and perks but resented paying the price to attain it.

He sponsored car racing. Unless you’ve seen them, it’s hard to understand what these events are like for the rich. The F1 circuit for example is where mega rich fly into town to gather and party hard. Some of these parties that were hosted every year by billionaires had a lavish reputation for drugs and debauchery. From what I’ve heard, one of Georges goals in life was to sleep with any woman that was willing.

In an interview after he died Olivia was clearly upset, she said that he slept around a lot but George always came home to her and she has his money.

He was given many gifts in life. I enjoy his music. As a human being, he could have done better.

In the 60’s kids dances to all the Beatles songs. Bands still do shows and the both old and young crowds loves it. A lot of kids have never heard Beatle songs played live.

Today in some clubs, remixes or even dub mixes are made where thumping bass and a dance beat is added. It depends on the type of club. Not my taste.
