According to Discogs, "Let It Be - Naked" was never released on vinyl in the US. That seems really strange. Like why didn't they do a limited US release on vinyl to coincide with the "Get Back" documentary.

The used copies for sale on Discogs are all in Europe and prices range from roughly $200-$300.

It should be!
I think it speaks to when “Naked” was released in 2003. Vinyl (at least in the US) was dead and CDs were the official king. No one was selling vinyl. There was a resurgence at some point of course of vinyl.
But I really think it was just timing.
As for why they didn’t release “Naked” on vinyl now it’s a mystery.
Paul and Yoko now have full ownership again right? So why not. It’s a no brainer. Maybe they will soon?

I was nine years old when I first heard The Beatles. I remember walking to school with a transistor radio glued to my ear, just so I could hear “Love Ne Do” again. I saved up my money and bought the 45rpm and played it incessantly on the phonograph. Oddly, I was first attracted to the drums and I played along to the tune on my bongos. I still have my John Lennon trading card somewhere; if I can find it, I’ll post a pic.

Correct. Paul, Ringo, Yoko, and Olivia Harrison call the shots. Don’t know if they have equal voting rights. I read that Paul and Ringo refused to allow Disney to censor profanity in “Get Gack”, as did Peter Jackson. Turned out Disney was flexible on that.

Turns out Paul owns 32 of the Lennon & McCartney tunes now according to the second link here and in 2026 will regain the rest.
In Europe the copyright claims last 50 years if they were published before 2013. (70 years after 2013) in America it’s 56 years. I’m not sure if Ringo and Olivia are on equal footing with Lennon & McCartney. It’s about publishing and who wrote and or owned the songs. Dick James did for a while. Then ATV when Michael Jackson owned them. Then Sony owned half when Michael Jackson sold half to them and then Sony bought them completely when Jackson died.
This stuff is complicated. One of these links say Yoko made a deal with Sony so his songs will be treated differently after Paul reclaims all of his.
As far as Ringo and Paul controlling the Get Back decisions with regards to Disney maybe that was because it was “a movie” that puts it in a different category? Maybe it’s out of courtesy because Disney wanted their blessings? I don’t know?
This stuff is complicated.

Despite what the copyright laws specify, the Beatles representatives negotiated the deals. I imagine that they did well. The financials related to Disney’s distribution of the documentary has to be very complex. McCartney owns a publishing company with more than just his own music. He has a lot of people representing his interest in these matters. The Beatles tradition received much high payments than the norm for the industry.

When an artist records a song, “radio play” doesn’t pay as much of a royalty as when it’s on TV or a movie. For the latter, you get paid as if you were performing it. Then the owner of the publishing gets paid. Someone who wrote a song for star trek explained that he gets paid whenever the episode airs. To this day, they get a good cheque every year for that day’s work in the 60’s. People can live off of those sort of royalties.

In the case of the documentary, Apple Corps owns the original film so royalties kick in. The Beatles perform so they get paid separately for that. Disney gets paid for distribution. Whatever deal the Beatles reached, payments will be high. The exposure will also elevate the Beatles catalog’s value. A chain reaction of profits.

That’s awesome! I was in a band for a short while with a guy who wrote a song in a punk band in the 90s. Then the a local band who made it big put the song on their debut album. Years later he got 90k for that one song on that album that didn’t sell that much.

That’s good money.

Of course the music industry is full of stories with musicians who were ripped off.

Okay, here's a little back story on jamming with GH. George had a home in Middleburg , VA and as luck would have it , my neighbor who's band I was playing with at the time was a friend of his and invited him to come down and jam . No one was told he would be there and I rode over with my neighbor/BL and got the shock of my life . He was such a nice guy .....amazing experience . One last thing , I think it was 76/77 .
