I was a music major in college, taking all of the music theory course and dabbling in arranging/composing/songwriting, etc.
I spent a good deal of $$$ on the "Beatles:Complete Scores" book... Although I am not as infatuated with the Beatles as a lot of people, I tell you: I learned more about music, songwriting, and composition from that book than any class I took in college. I strongly recommend it to anyone who is serious about learning theory/song forms, etc.

Well I never knew that. Fourth episode? That’s a bit early for Lennon to be a fan of the show? I wonder how this came about?
“The Beatles Rock n Roll Music” is an album that I had/have and did really like. When I was a teen I was a Stones boy, and really only liked the early R’n’R Beatles songs. Theta has really changed around as I have aged. Still love the Stones up to about 73, with some newer stuff popping in. But have became a lover of The Beatles and their story. Even songs from Sgt Pepper and later.
(Mind you I have since found ancestors that are Peppers. But they were builders/bricklayers from Hammersmith England, not Sargeant’s. But I’m still claiming it!)

Maybe that's when Lennon was going through a 50s revival phase. A friend in the entertainment world probably told him about the show and set up the visit.
That's my best guess.
That timing makes sense. Happy Days first aired in January 1974. The sessions for Lennon's Rock & Roll album took place in late '73 and late '74.
I recall reading that album was a contractual agreement.
JL agreed to record 3 (4?) songs from a publisher as punishment for pinching a line or two from Chuck Berry in Come Together.

I prefer Lennon's version to the original. It is like that song was made for John's voice.
