Double Bass Alternatives to AI Ten2 as Small PA

Between the rehearsal on Saturday and the concert on Sunday this past weekend, my Series III AI Ten2 handled my upright, my archtop electric guitar, and an SM57 that functioned as both a handheld mic and on a stand for a grand piano - and it did it all really well, IMHO.

Just a hypothetical question - what would you get in this price range, or significantly less money, or significantly more money, if you were in the market for DB-combo-amp-as-small-PA?

The current Ten2, 2-channel version, goes for about $1600 and the padded bag another $150, plus tax/shipping, so let's say what would you get in the sub-$1000, about $2k, and sky's-the-limit-as-long-as-you-can-carry-it categories?

I love the Ten2 for upright bass, electric bass, acoustic guitar, but I don't like how vocals sound through it.

For $2k, you could get two QSC K10s, two speaker stands, two tote bags for the speakers, and a nice Allen and Heath or Soundcraft mixer which will handle pretty much any situation, is extremely modular and portable, and can still make your bass sound like a bass.

I think having to carry two of them goes over the easy to carry limit, but one with a smaller mixer sounds possible and, depending on the mixer, could come in close to 1k.

OK to state first---I am an Euphonic Audio endorser. But I was offered endorsements from other companies including AI. I thought that EA stuff sounded better.
I think that the EA Doubler is the best amp for purposes mentioned. The AI gear is really good---I just think that if you're looking for 2 channels with an extremely flexible channel that handles a mic the Doubler is unbeatable.
And I've heard rumors of a very good high volume 8 inch speaker that is extremely light.

I've heard those rumors too and would love to hear one. Until then, don't forget about the Acme B1. Andy first marketed it as a PA speaker and I have seen it used that way. It's great for DB.

Have you tried the new Acme 12" cabs, Greg?

From what I've read on TB, and heard on KJung's Youtube clips, they sound great.
