Am I crazy, or is this a great deal?

I'm new to bass - I'm a guitar player. From what I know of MIJ Fenders, when it comes to guitars, the MIJ stuff from the 80's rivals, and in some opinions trumps even MIA's from the era. I just finished buying and upgrading a Jaguar Bass, and put a decent bit of money on it - but this deal to me seems like I can't resist it.

It's a mid 80's white P-Bass MIJ for 125.00/bo, with some finish damage - which appears to be cracked paint and some worn completely off. The cosmetics don't really bug me a whole lot, as long as the body itself isn't damaged - now assuming this is the case, do I need to go buy this instantly to round out my MIJ Fender arsenal? =D

Basically two questions implied - are mid 80's MIJ Basses held with the same regard as Strats, and if so, are they valued such that dropping $100 tonight on a beat up one would still be a fantastic deal?

What's the consensus TB'ers?

Sent him a few clarification questions about it's condition, before I drive 40 minutes to find the body is cracked and the neck is warped. If everything's good I might have a new P-Bass that I didn't even know I needed but certainly wanted (Jag is awesome for a lot, but just can't quite match what a P-Bass excels at).

That's funny. As soon as I saw the title of this thread, I knew what it was going to be about. I live in Buffalo and just that it about an hour ago. I was really tempted to get it, but I'm in the middle of putting together a parts P bass, and just got all my parts. Anyway, it's DEFINITELY worth checking out. I say get it before someone else does. Unless the thing is totally toast, you'd be able to sell it for a lot more than $125 if you don't end up liking it.

You just stay in Ontario, buddy! Haha

I've e-mailed him and left a voicemail, pretty sure I'm gonna grab it tomorrow if he says it's neck and body are good to go.

I found a Roland D-50 (synth) on there for $100 too in great condition. Guess today is a crazy day for buffalo craigslist. :)

Haha! Trust me! Get it now cause I just e-mailed the guy. I' m 2 hours and 38 minutes away. :D

*sigh*

And now we wait...

Guess I'll trust my instincts next time and not advertise it here, lol. I didn't realize there were this many people on this site (I'm new here).

I hope this doesn't turn into a bidding war - let the new guy have the deal! >_<

Get it!!! Bidding war!!!

Eh I think I'll probably let the other guy have it if he's really determined to drive 3 hours for it - no point in us driving the price up out of the stupidly awesome deal range. I love Canadians and I've spent like $1,500 in the past couple months on the Jaguar, it's upgrades, and 2 vintage synths. Gotta slow down at some point and start paying those student loans more than the minimum. :D
