I'm new to bass - I'm a guitar player. From what I know of MIJ Fenders, when it comes to guitars, the MIJ stuff from the 80's rivals, and in some opinions trumps even MIA's from the era. I just finished buying and upgrading a Jaguar Bass, and put a decent bit of money on it - but this deal to me seems like I can't resist it.

It's a mid 80's white P-Bass MIJ for 125.00/bo, with some finish damage - which appears to be cracked paint and some worn completely off. The cosmetics don't really bug me a whole lot, as long as the body itself isn't damaged - now assuming this is the case, do I need to go buy this instantly to round out my MIJ Fender arsenal? =D
Basically two questions implied - are mid 80's MIJ Basses held with the same regard as Strats, and if so, are they valued such that dropping $100 tonight on a beat up one would still be a fantastic deal?
What's the consensus TB'ers?
