Lol. Yeah I hear that too. Another one I get 'I seen it just now' or 'I seen it on tv'. I correct my students on that one too. It's not exclusive to any one ethnic group either. Most of my students do this. Again, I pick my battles. I only have so much energy and time in the day.

I'm pretty thick skinned, so trust me, I'm not all that concerned when a kid/parent calls me a racist, but I figured that I'd throw this one up for all the dudes that like to argue about these things. Also, does anyone know where this mispronunciation comes from? It's not the first, nor do I believe the last time, I've heard students using 'ax' instead of 'ask'.

You aren't racist, but you did interrupt her. Now days racist is used not to refer to racism, but to refer to being rude and/ or annoying. If you follow politics you will notice that the racism cardis used a lot by people who don't want to admit that they are wrong. Trust me on this. I'm 15 years old and have been neck deep in politics since I was four.

-1 I don't see it as a dick move at all. To me it's the same thing as if I asked the teacher "Can I go to the bathroom" and they said "I don't know if you can, but MAY you go..."

He corrected her.

I don't think you were racist at all. White, Brown or Red you would have said the same thing to anyone else.

They might do it when they don't want to admit they are wrong, but it is a deliberate attempt to hit below the belt. Everybody in this country knows the power of that word.

Among my Ohio favorites, mainly spoken by my niece, a 29 year old with three kids who I still correct when she does this:

Libary
day-in (this would be "dating". For some reason, the "t" in words like this is skipped....also the name ""Pay-in")

and my all time favorite, the one my wife and I say all day long just to be annoying, I KNOW, RIGHT?
