I play on my worship team at church. I stand between the drum kit and one of the electric guitar players. I have a Fender Rumble 350 amp. I can hardly hear myself but the sound man and the singers on the other side of the stage say that I am way too loud. Actually, the sound man completely shuts me off in the system because he says that if he turns me on in the system at all I overpower everything. Am I doing something wrong?
How did you manage to use the Zoom as a HPF?
—One of the preamp models on the Zoom does have a HPF on it; however, what I actually did was use the parametric eq and set it for the lowest frequency, then cut that drastically. It sort of mimics a HPF, especially with a wide q sweep. I used the eq model, because it also gave me the option to decrease the frequency right above the lowest option, if needed, or add specific mid-frequencies. But I actually didn’t need to use the second frequency at all, because the lowest frequency cut (along with the other measures that I listed) solved the issue.
So my way wasn’t a true HPF, but the overall effect was similar.
I love the Zoom MS series….they have so many “out of the box”
options that I carry them to every gig, whether I plan on using them or not. And they work for most instruments too.
I went with IEMs a couple of months ago and can't imagine going back to having an amp on-stage. I can always hear myself and sound guys love me.
