For anyone who is nominated or wins, just realize the more accurate truth -- they must be pretty darn good.

Then the artist should eschew the ceremony, otherwise they are not "artists".
Ok budThe comment you made above Burwabi, is odd on a couples of levels.
First, you attribute the need to be the best as an American trait. WRONG! Seen the Olympics or any other international sporting event lately? Seems to me there are more than a few country's that do the same.
Second, you seem to denigrate anyone who would pursue that goal if they were an "artist". The two are not mutually exclusive last I knew.
I'd be "triggered" but I'm not a snowflake. I just find it disheartening.
How do you guys feel about these types of events?
When it comes to music awards ... "best" = "most popular". Has little relationship to the inherent quality of the music or musicians. The San Diego music awards are happening tonight and I got sucked into going. Two of the bands I work with are nominated for "best" in their said genres. While I am proud of the work we do, I don't believe there is a true way to qualify any type of art or artist as the "best". How do you guys feel about these types of events? At least I have a hot date for the event, maybe she will be the "best" looking woman there.

Not mutually exclusive. It's an award not a declaration of absolute truth. Then the artist should eschew the ceremony, otherwise they are not "artists".
