Excuse me, i am new here and i do not have that much experience on forums. Also, i am not native English speaking.
I am confused here. If you start a topic are you not supposed to participate in it, especially if it is somewhat 'inflammatory' (took this word from the rules regarding trolling) ? It's 10 pages now, where is the OP to take away some of the heat ?
Maybe it's me breaking more forum rules here by posting off-topic and insinuating 'trolling' haha !

The OP isn’t required to participate, but disappearing when a thread isn’t going as expected isn’t uncommon.
To me all questions should be asked before purchase and honesty to the best of everyones knowledge should always apply. 11 lbs is heavy if you have a bad back or some other health issue. If you don't, now you get to get a work out. If it sounds good keep it.
It would be normal to participate, or with a topic like this at least provide an update on the final decision about the issue, but participation isn't mandatory. Also, the original post was only this morning (in my time zone), so maybe they just haven't had time to post again - I know I have occasionally started a forum thread in a spare moment and then not had time to read replies until much later.
Ah, in this case it's like going to bed or to work leaving a frying pan on the stove.

I would think if weight were that important that you would have questioned the "about".
Are you in the wrong? technically no. But i really cant understand how its such an issue when you its a bass youve been looking for, got it at a great price, and you even admit it plays and sounds better than others youve played. I cant really wrap my head around the issue.
I care a lot about weight. When I ask, I usually specify along the lines of "Do you have an accurate weight for this bass, such as from a fishing or postal scale?" The bathroom scale is a useless device for something under 25 lbs.....unless all you're looking for is a "within 5 lbs" estimate.
Because 9lbs is comfortable. 11lbs is a boat anchor that will be unsellable here.
Probably not unexpected. I wouldn't respond to some of the stool samples that have posted here either.
after 10 pages of this can we atleast see the bass the OP was talking about or a good imitation?
I'm in the camp of the weight question coming after the offer was made and accepted so the OP bought the bass. He didn't appear to make a contingent offer.
As color commentary only - I checked the OPs profile and his activity on this board has been almost exclusively buying and selling instruments. There's nothing wrong with that at all. It suggests that he has experience in the marketplace, probably has a good sense of what he wants, and just goofed on this one.
Considering the heat in the market for used Fenders right now, I'd suggest flipping it and finding another. That would probably be less trouble anyway.

IMO, the "purpose" of the sale is totally irrelevant. I see no need to feel guilty. And 2 lbs., when it bumps the weight to 11 lbs., is huge! I am a Les Paul player as well and know what I speak of! 
If you think it feels too heavy for you to comfortably play, by all means return it - the weight was in fact misrepresented, and not in a minor way (2 lbs. is not 2 oz.!).

You're in the right about that it's your money and he did sort of falsely advertise it to you. Doesn't matter what cause he was selling the instrument for. Some random woman no one knows lost her husband. Must suck to be her, but she still probably lived, and continues to live, a better live than many other humans on this planet. So who cares.
I do however believe that you're being too picky about the weight of the instrument. But that's not the question nor the problem really. If you don't like it and you've been told the product is different than what it actually is, then you have all the right in the world to get your money back.
There’s a completed transaction when $ changes hands & item (or service) is delivered; there is a deal before the completed transaction, & it is not always clear exactly when. Otherwise Contracts wouldn’t be a full course in law school.
Your post prompted me to reread the OP, & OP says he asked for the weight before he made his offer - I thought it was after.
OP also said he’s been looking for this bass for some time - if the weight is the only thing wrong with the bass, then maybe keep the bass while the OP keeps shopping. When a better bass comes along, OP can then sell the 11 pounder.

I have a 9 pound alder P and an 11 pound ash P. After about 15 minutes playing standing up, the ash body feels way heavier than a 2 pound difference. During long sets, the heavy bass might as well be made of lead.
I have an 11.6 llb Jazz bass that I love but yeah it's heavy. i use a wide neoprene strap and it makes a world of a difference.
