My home state! Devil's Churn isn't far from here (1/2 mile?) & from Florence to Cannon Beach, you'll find some of the most majestic coastline anywhere in the world. I live inland about 60 miles, & am surrounded by mountain ranges on both sides. Oregon may not have the best of any one thing, but we have a little bit of everything! Truly my favorite state in the Union!
Here's a few pics of Devil's Churn, but I can't find anything that comes remotely close to capturing the beauty/scary/power of this place. It's an inlet 100-150 yards long (I'm guessing) that terminates in a cave underneath HWY 101. The waves are crazy awesome, but the noise & sound is quite intimidating. As the water rushes back out, what sounds like 1,000 bowling balls getting tossed around are actually boulders. You can walk right down & next to the whole thing, but if you take kids, be careful!
