I bought a MTD Kingston 6 string from Amazon at about $800 on a list price of $1450. There was one left according to the site, at that time. After I bought, there was suddenly still one left, but the price was $1400. So yeah, timing is everything.

Reminds me a little bit of how Sam's Club schedules its price drops, it's a formula based on number of purchases/buying activity.

In this case what can happen is that the MTD was on special offer on Amazon by Amazon and soon as it was sold, it was available again but from a different supplier. Still on Amazon but not from Amazon. Most -not all- very good offers are from Amazon as the supplier. They just wait for the last MTD on offer to be sold until another supplier fills in the empty space, at a different price. My 2c but I have noticed this a couple of times

Ibanez ATK800e for $550. Goes for $750 everywhere else. From GearTree. I messaged them and asked about weight and told them if it was under 8.5 I'd buy it. They have 2 in stock and the lightest was 8.65lbs. I know it's just a hair over but I was on the fence and that was my decider. Very cool for them to do that and be honest about it.

Still a good deal on a cool bass. I'm interested in a J/MM where the MM isn't super close to the bridge.
