@Bob_Ross Your story wins. That's incredible, though it's also somehow more explainable.
I think it's partly a maturity thing and partly understanding your role. I think a lot of guitarists and singers actually believe the purpose of other musicians is simply to make them look good and "stay out of the way." And while in plenty of music the vocals and melody are the important thing to the audience and the genre, a smart or at least experienced musician will understand that an ensemble only works as an ensemble if people are working together and integrating their playing with one another.
Interesting. Evidently with the new Mac chips having a large buffer actually chews up more cpu. So you need to set Ableton to a mid to small buffer setting to optimize the CPU. Okay then.

Late to the party, here. I'm that odd bassist that people are always telling to turn up. I think it's probably because I absolutely LOATHE musicians that play too loud.
As to the band members that don't listen thing... they don't last long, or if there's more of them than me, I don't. That's one of the "I'm too old for this amateur hour crap" things that's a dealbreaker.
In other news, I WENT TO SCHOOL LAST NIGHT. OMFG. To have these two soloing about 4 feet away... I planted my butt right in front of Bailey and probably watched him 99 percent of the time (even when Vic was soloing right in my face - Vic's the best, but I've seen him a billion times). I cannot wait to get that 6 string fretless. Only 7 more ridiculously long months.

Also, I think I'm gonna sell the Zoia, so if anyone's interested, lemme know. It's more than I need. I wanted a nice little multi-effects unit in one package, but this thing's more work than I have time for and I don't really find the synth stuff on it interesting enough to put the time into it. I'd rather put sound design time into my other synths.
If I sell it, I wanna get a new toy. Thinking of that Lemondrop granular synth, cuz it'd be nice to have a super portable synth. Or something for the board, but I have no idea, at this point, what I'd want. Still looking for new things to provide a sound base to tweak (right now, it's the C4, Enzo, Mel 9 and the TC Infinite Sustainer thing). Any non-noise suggestions appreciated.

the one i was a sub then a « permanent » started last winter, yes.
Not Sedmi that’s my main project, we get along freakin great. Our last gig was on point, the much bigger than expected crowd went nuts.
It was very intense, cops came to close it down. In a good way, no injuries, no violence. Just an outside gig that went « bigger, louder, faster » than expected.

sorry I got nothing, my last big purchase was a boring yet awesome regular old MXR carbon copy so I now have 2 delays on my board now to create textures and chaos.

Well, the home synth setup is now as close to frozen as it needs to be. The Super 6 listens to MIDI on all 16 channels in MPE mode (why, it only has 6 or 12 voices?) so I set up my MioXM to filter audio coming into it to block out everything above channel 7. It’s good to have good utilities. I may still spring for a patch bay at some point. We shall see.
I'm thinking of getting that Line 6 HX Stomp to replace the Zoia. Anyone have one?re: pedal/ synth suggestions

Oddly enough I’m using the Zoia more than ever. Particularly the Euro version. I might also end up moving the Zoia pedal I have, along with a few other pedals just to clear some room. If I end up missing them then they’re still in production and I could replace them pretty easily.

"musicians" not listening . . . the bane of my existence and i wish it were less common than it is. i've experienced it with people who are *supposed* to be at least decent on professional gigs. ruined many a gig for me and made me bail on a lot of different things. and now it pisses me off when i show up to hear people and it's obvious they're not listening to each other. ugh.

Yes, absolutely you can chain stuff together for ambient, though routing options are pretty limited. It's 9 blocks, in series, with one path that can sort of go in parallel. And you only get three foot switches. Sounds are decent, it's built around a "pedal" interface meant to translate to guitarists, but that's also deceptive. Because it's all digital, interactions between blocks are kind of limited, which means you have to do more volume-balancing between blocks than you would a pedalboard. WAY easier to use than Zoia. The other thing is don't always take stuff at face value, and learn all the parameters for the amps and cabs as they can really affect the sound (just try all the different "mics"). And also, don't use things as intended. I sometimes prefer filters and such to cab models, etc.
Build quality of the unit is good, screen is nice, but the power supply is kind of stupid, and it takes a special connector so if you want to use an alternative less stupid power supply, you need an adapter. I have done this. You can also hook it up to your computer and program it on your computer. I find 9 blocks is plenty for any given sound but sometimes it gets complicated or limiting when making radical changes to my sound because the blocks tend to be single-purpose.
I've had mine around as a sort of utility thing for a few years and I liked it but didn't love it. I used it when I needed a small pedal or was gigging in a tiny space. But this summer, I programmed it more seriously for three things I was playing at a music camp (two bass parts and one guitar part) where there was practically no time to get on and off stage. I really came around to working with a modeller; to be fair to Line6, I also spent more time really digging into its finer details and options, like the global EQ and such.
I liked it much so that I went ahead and ordered a Fractal Audio FM9 when my number came up. Theoretically, I like the Fractal approach because it's much more modular, many blocks have EQ and LFOs built in, and there are easily mappable LFOs, sequencers, and envelopes. Interface is a little wonkier but it makes sense to me. Fractal has fewer "models" (other than guitar amps) but gives you the basic building blocks to get a lot weirder. Then again, maybe I'll get it and not like it. And it is more expensive and harder to find used.
If you do get the HX, don't take the "model" part too seriously (the realism debates about modelling stuff online is basically the digital equivalent of tone wood debates) and focus on getting sounds.
It's possible I'll be interested in selling mine in a few weeks but I don't really know yet.
I think you could, but I don’t know for how long. It needs 1000ma to run, and a bit more to start up….sometimes.
