Yet another Autechre rabbithole…was reading a thread where someone only likes their early, more accessible stuff. I prefer their bonkers stuff, but don’t always feel like hearing it. Never heard this more ambient piece, but it is lovely

Back to my dumb eurorack looper thing. Kinda between the Assimil8or (which I’ve been reading is in fact, great for live looping) and the Instruo Lubahd.
Instruo pros are it’s fast and immediate and everything is knob per function, so very performative. The Assimil8or would involve looking at a small screen more often. Selling Data Bender will offset some of the cost. Probably about 40% of it?
Assimil8or pros are that it’s 8 channels, so I could also sell the Rample, Data Bender and a couple 1U modules to offset the cost. It could be my drum box, looper and sampling looks pretty straight forward. The single cycle wave synth stuff and especially the frequency modulation looks incredibly cool. Basically, anything can modulate anything. The main cons are I understand file management is a bear and I doubt it would have the same immediacy/ fun factor of the Instruo. As always with modular the ‘obvious’ answer is both, but I don’t see that happening, if only for space reasons.
Any words of wisdom appreciated

Hey, getting back into using Ableton after a few years, have a question for ya. I remember being able to take a midi clip of a synth pad, and do something with the start/end markers so that the note would sustain and not retrigger when the clip restarts (crucial for drones, as you know). Anyone know how to do this? I've completely forgotten, and it's kind of essential. Thanks in advance.
From an Ableton discussion thread:
make the midi clip and note longer than 1 bar then make the loop markers 1 bar and put the loop at a point so it loops before the end of the note and after the start of the note

yep, what he said but sometimes with some patches the note doesn’t trigger since the attack is outside the loop brace

There days, I tend toward immediacy. I seem to recall some issues with the Instruo in the MW thread. One module to “do it all” rarely does it all. If I bought the Rossum, it would be for sampling and FSU.
I think I saw that very same thread today, and that's it. Thanks.
It’s a good tip. I wish I had thought of it or been told about it years ago.

I received the FM9 on Thursday and plugged it in to my computer this morning. The amount of control for a hardware modeller is frankly shocking. They thought of almost everything. It is seriously modular-synth level. The only problem is the infinity of choices. “Which of these 1000 Impulse Responses will sound decent?” Luckily, there are many fewer for bass. My first challenge will simply to be to recreate my pedalboard and amp setup, including everything from the H9s, and see if I can do it.
But ultimately I think it may require a change in mindset.
