I’m in full old Jewish man mode with hair maintenance: lots of wrong places to be groomed. Also, my groan game is on point when needed.

And on eyesight, neither my “progressives” (aka, bifocals with a fancy name) and computer glasses let me see my pedalboard well when standing over it.

So On a semi more related note…
My bands 9 track album is done.
My guitarist Remixed a track as an intro to one of the songs I uploaded here for the noise album collated by “mr pickles”. Not sure if he is still on here… this was around 10 years ago? My track eccentric master crunch was basically messing around with a boss ps3, turbo rat,delays and expression pedal to go between harmonised octave up to two octave up whammy style. To quote one of my friends it sounds like a cross between tardis and whale noises
If I can find the original I will else I’ll try and upload the remixed track once we get to actually launching the album

the five12 vector does a lot of stuff like that, but it’s pretty large it’s not inexpensive.

Hi guys, wondering if anyone knows of a desktop cv/MIDI control device for rhythmic gated/stutter effect on a synth pad? That da-da-daaa da-da-daaa trancey vibe, for example? I’ve tried playing around with a programmable tremolo but can’t quite nail it. I considered a step sequencer like the Korg SQ-1 but the patterns I’m after need a combination of short and long note durations so need the ability to join steps together to create longer notes in the pattern… not sure if the Korg can do this. Any other ideas?

Currently, my favorite desktop midi/cv sequencer is Oxi Instruments Oxi One. Super flexible, small but not too cramped, has 8 gate and 8 cv outputs. It’s fantastic

Euro rack sequencer nerds:
So the new Erica Sample drum is interesting but I’m slicing up a loop and finding that I need to trigger a slice change 1 step (1/16th) early to get the sampler to run in sync with the rest of my sequences running from the same sequencer (Erica Black). Is this a common thing or am I having a problem? I emailed Erica about it, so we’ll see what they say.

My guess is that the system simply needs a 1/16th of time to see the sample slice change via CV and then prep it for playback. This could be pretty annoying if I need to always think 1 step early when programming, but it might just be a limitation of dealing with CV. I figured a few of you might have encountered this before.

I don’t think the PPQN is the issue since there isn’t a clock sync between the two. The Sequencer is only sending gate/trigger and CV for slice selection.

The sequencer (and/or the sampler's inputs) might have enough latency to cause that, and the CV might be just a tiny bit behind the beat. I know that CV and triggers/gates being out of sync is a pretty common issue with Eurorack sequencing.

That’s my guess. I think the gate goes out of the sequencer at the same time as the CV for the slice selection and they each arrive at the same time. Then the gate input sees the signal and triggers the slice loaded up in the sample. Meanwhile the sampler is calculating what to do with the CV slice selection and that process takes just a moment longer than the gate triggering process, so the CV instruction has to wait until the next cycle to have an audible effect. I should see what happens with a manual controller. In fact, I meant to buy a CV keyboard with the Perfect Circuit sale but forgot…

I found the fix near the bottom of this page - Erica Sample Drum - Page 10 - MOD WIGGLER

I wasn't searching for "latency." There's a setting in the menu I overlooked. 1 ms of adjustment seems to have this fixed.

Something I learned about triggers in Euro: pulse width can be an issue, so modules may expect different from what sequencers put out.

I love my Vector. It’s big and expensive but it is really playable.
